I am looking into upgrading my ecu so i can do some self-tuning on my car. I was wondering which ecu is better for my money and my car?

I wanted to ask the members who has been in the DSM family longer than me LOL

Any help or advice will be most appreciated
Thanks,
Kevin.

They are literally the same software, they go by different names. Like drinking a "pop" or drinking a "coke" or drinking a coca-cola. So this should be marked as resolved. You are welcome.

ECM makes DSM link. The dsm link is ECM

Technically, they changed the name of the software when they came out with V3. Since they now make it for early Evo's as well as DSM's, they changed the name from "DSMLink" to "ECMLink."

ECMLINK V3 and dont forget the gm cable if you plan to run a 3" gm maf. To vent the bov. You may need to get your ecu socket also? That will be my plan down the road.

they changed the name from dsmlink to ecmlink with plans to further expand and not be limited to just dsms and evo 1-3s

Ok. So im sure he gets it the same thing now, but honestly guys come on, you know what he meant by that question. Stop being so harsh and give him real advice, help a fellow dsmer out rather than dog on him in his thread!

DSMLink is the name of versions 1 through 2.5 and ECMLink was the name they changes it to for version 3, probably due to the fact that Evo owners began to integrate it into their cars.

v3 lite to start with, you can always upgrade to the full for the difference between lite and full and its just a download. get a wideband to monitor your a/f ratios, a boost gauge to monitor your boost, a fuel pump(255hp with afpr) so you wont run out of pump, a set of injectors so you dont run out of fuel(get anything up to 1450s you can control them in link and never have to upgrade. lastly you will want a boost controller to turn up the boost.

after you get the above listed stuff you will have everything to control your fuel and ignition, 2 of the 3 vital parts of an engine. the last part is air, if you go with a decent sized turbo such as a 16g or 50 trim you will have a nice dd/ track car. hope you take some of this to heart, get your stuff to tune first, supporting mods second, and your turbo last. best of luck to you:thumb:

No, I don't know what he meant by the question at all, as for face value, it simply is asking if he should get ECMLink or DSMLink as if they are separate products.

Even if he meant should he get an older version over the newer, he never specified which version. So as of right now, the answer is only as good as the question.
