will dsmlink work with a 98 plastic housing ecu or does it have to have an e-prom. i haven't seen anywhere that states one way or the other. thanks for the insight.
 
thanks for the info Rob, i had been reading up on reflashing my ecu but it was looking like it would be less hassle to go with DSMLink. i'm still learning about this tune and re-flash stuff.

oh, and mine is flashable.

I have to ask, did you really do any reading? It clearly states it on the very first page on the ECMLink website:

An EPROM ECU is still required, but we've also managed to develop a non-EPROM conversion for the 1G ('90-'94) DSM ECUs as well as for the 2G ('95-'97) DSM ECUs. And we do sometimes have a stock of EPROM ECUs on hand if needed. If all else fails and you have an ECU with some damage, we can repair that too.

They now offer conversion boards for some non eprom ecu's, but in case your still wondering, no 98 ecu's can't be converted.
