Well I guess I kinda screwed myself on this deal. I was going to order the DSM Link, injectors and upgraded ECU from Jeff but dicked around waiting on the new year. Went there this morning to order that combo and another 3G MAF and found that he is shutting the site down and no longer taking new orders. He will only be helping existing customers with upgrades. I completely understand his reasoning. Business is business. Thats what I get for not listening to my gut and just ordering it a month ago but noooooooooooo I didn't want anything to happen due to all the Christmas shipping that goes on during the month of Dec. Boy do I regret that. I put his chip and 3G MAF setup on my daughters car. She has a small 16G and a set of 550cc injectors. The car runs great with his chip. I wish you all the best Jeff and hope one day you will be able to return to selling parts for these wonderful cars.

PS - On a side note, anyone know where I could find something similar to what Jeff offered on his site? Thanks in advance.

Why not just get ECMLink. It saves the hassle of needing to buy new chips for new tunes and you tune the car yourself via a laptop. It's also a logger too

Thanks for the reply and thats what I'm planning to do. I was hoping to get the package deal he was offering that consisted of ECM Link, choice of injectors, upgraded ECU and base tune. It seemed like a really good deal and my experiences with him in the past have always been first rate. I just really hate to see him go but can understand his reasoning. Guess I will have to piece a combo together (ECM Link, Injectors and socketed ECU.) then get off my lazy butt and figure out a base tune myself unless I can find a vendor that offers something similar. If not I just hope the motor can take my learning curve.

Once you get your hands on the Link, their forums will provide a weatlh of knowledge. You'll be able to find plenty of base maps there. Everyone there is more than willing to help those who are willing to learn.

I would suggest just installing Link before the injectors so you can figure out the program and get your base maps setup without having to deal with dialing in the injectors as well.

Exactly, and ecmtuning made the price VERY good for all the things you get. Dorris is'nt money hungry like alot of the vendors are now. He made an awesome product and prices it fair.

In fact, you can just get the lite version and have 90% of the features. And it is all most of the link users need for their goals. Then just upgrade when you want more later. But there's nothing like having the whole setup at your disposal.

People still burn chips. A good friend of mine burns chips for 1g and 2g. same guy also made his own pen sized wideband and digital auto shift box with line pressure control. He used to have a site but did not have enough orders outside of the area to warrant it. If anyone needs anything just PM me.

Its really not hard to get going, all you have to do is set your new injector size and latency in ecuflash and your good to go. The stock maps are fine to start out with until you learn more or want more power.

Jeff and I have spoken several times over the last 6-12 months about his decision to shut down DSMChips. He really didn't want to just walk away and strand his existing customers but he wasn't sure how to best pass along the business either.

We considered every option from a full site transfer over to us to doing nothing at all. We're sorta in between right now. It would be nearly impossible for us to pick up where Jeff left off without investing a lot of time and effort into learning whatever system he had in place for producing his chips. And, besides, doing custom chip burns is just not what we want to get into. The overhead is REALLY high, especially when someone wants changes made.

What we proposed was to offer an "ultra lite" version of ECMLink instead. It would basically have been (and may still be) a hardcoded chip with injector and timing adjustments like Jeff offered based on compression ratio, fuel type, etc., but would use our logger system and cable. If you wanted to change the settings, you could simply ask for a new flash file from us with those new settings in it. No need to send your chip back or get a chip from us or even open your ECU at all. In fact, it could be automated on the website to some extent. Punch in your new setup information, check out and download an upgrade file.

So why hasn't this happened? Because we're not sure whether anyone really wants that service or not. Since Jeff has shut down and put that notice on his site, we have received exactly zero e-mails asking about it. It's hard to justify the effort required to offer yet another version of our product unless there's a definite interest.

Pricing was probably going to be around $175 with no sales through resellers. That's a little more than his chips, but you were also going to get a full USB logging cable and our ECMLink flash module and our logging software. It was basically going to be ECMLink V3 without user adjustments.

If you later decided you wanted V3Lite, you could simply upgrade your chip to V3Lite off our website (again without removing anything from the ECU).

But, so far we just haven't seen the interest necessary to warrant the effort.

We've given that thought as well. But like the chip-only option, nobody has really asked us for it, so we haven't done anything with it yet.

"If you build it they will come"!!! I believe it would catch on and be pretty successful. For many the initial or "base" tune is well worth paying for.
