I have quite the problem right now. I have a 2g awd and both my drivers side rotor and half shaft are stuck on the hub. My bigger concern right now is getting the half shaft out. Any tricks or recomendations? Ive already tried slamming it and prying on it but nothing.

Are you trying to get the axel and half shaft apart from each other? If so, carefully heat the axel side of the joint where the half shaft mates with it. Careful not to burn or melt any of the seals.

I had a similar problem and the judicious use heat from a propane torch allowed me to separate my axel and half shaft quite easily by laying the joint across a deep socket and using another deep socket from above, I gently hammered it into the joint in order to spread the two halves evenly from the top and bottom. Good luck. Hope this helps you out. Good luck.

Are these front axles or rear ones? If they are the rear ones I would be careful not to damage them because 2G rear axles are discontinued everywhere. A 20 ton press couldn't get my rear axle to separate from the hub.

Welcome to the fun of owning an older car that was driven in the snow belt. I had the same problem and ended up mushrooming out one, so I put a torch on both of them with no sucess. I ended up just melting the ends off and pulling the wheel bearing off of the spindle and replaced both the wheel bearing & the axle.

Cheap enough at NAPA or your preferred local auto parts place. I think the bearings & axles ended up being a few hundred for the whole front end. I anti-seized everything when I put it back together and have never had a problem since.

If you are talking about the rear, DSMGraveyard sells new rear axles but they are quite pricey compared to the fronts.

That sucks my friend has a 2g we were going to pull the tranny but i heard that its hard to get the axles out sometimes.

Well I guess the cheap-ass way would be to pull the spindles & axles out as one complete piece, but I'd recommend against that. The balljoint nuts are a bit more difficult to remove with the axle boot in the way. Plus, if you plan on keeping your car for awhile, chances are you will need new wheel bearings at some point. Why not make it easier on yourself for future jobs and just replace it while everything is apart.
