I have searched this problem. Now I only have one thats sheared off and the other fell out on me tonight causing my axle to fall out losing fluid everywere. Lucky me I was only 3 miles from home. Kinda felt like the clutch was slipping but that is probably from only 3 axles.

So does anyone know of a way to get room to easy out the old bolt and tap them without removing the motor? or is a 90* drill what im looking into buying this week?

Just to add to my neg Kharma after I jacked the car up and found the problem I closed my door kinda hard shattering the drivers side window all over me. :notgood:

Any help would be great

Ian.

Had the same problem. I just ended up removing the motor. We just wanted to make sure the drill and tap went straight as you could really mess it up. Do it once and do it right.

There are ALOT of threads about this issue out there. Ive replied in most.

You can rent (or buy, use, and return) a 90* Milwauke drill from Sears. Remove your intake manifold and go in from the top. The biggest issue is to make sure you drill STRAIGHT. Then use an EZ out. Ive had mine break twice. Its not as bad as you think it will be.

Make sure you go back with OEM bolts. They have a special "nosing" on the end to prevent the threads from bottoming out. Notice how I mentioned mine broke twice. Once from age, and twice because I decided to use grade 8 bolts from NAPA. No more breaking after I went back in with OEM bolts.

Thanks RB. you make me kinda want arbys. I didnt read all of the threads but I know alot of them say pull the motor. It just really sucked having the axle pop out of the trans too. then the glass breaking was the topping on the cake. I think something is telling me not to go to the drag strip friday so I am not going to make it an issue.

We have a "right angle" tool at the tire shop that I run the construction division for but its an air tool and it has a wire wheel on the end.

My guess is since your tool has a wire wheel on the end it probably wont have the required torque to drill out a broken bolt if you put a drill bit in it. You can try though. I tried to find the Milwaukee drill that I used on Sears website but I wasnt able to find it. Hopefully they still carry it. They have a few other options though including this one Craftsman C3 19.2 volt Right Angle Drill/Driver - Model 11576 at Sears.com which might work.

Arbys regular roast beef FTW :rocks:

hey man i actually work at sears. (or did till last week because i start college at uwm next week) at sears we sold a right angle adapter for work with your average drill driver. it is right around 30 bucks but is a lot cheaper than a milwaukee brand full right angle drill. just an idea for you
