2G Door handle rod

Hi everyone Im new to the dsm scene I just recently bought a 1998 eclipse gst and I love it! But one problem and it’s with the door handle. There’s a rod that connect to the door handle and it keeps falling off leaving the door handle useless. Is there anyway to keep the rod from falling off the door handle? Any help is appreciated thanks!-Noah

I'm sure there are a few ways. Could you upload some pictures? It could be a damaged rod/handle or you could engineer some way to fix it. Some pictures would help come up with a solution.

First make sure it's not just a broken door handle (which is common).

When I bought the car the door handle wouldnt open all the time. You had to hit a sweet spot to get it to open. Went on ebay and bought a dorman. Been working great so far

If it's truly the rod keeps getting disconnected, you can simply replace the little plastic clip, it's about a $1 part at most auto stores, AutoZone and Oreilly's have them in the "Help Me" section.

I just put a picture on my thread is that the plastic piece that needs to be replaced?

Yeah looks like the plastic clip that pops through the linkage is just worn out. I'd purchase the parts b00st3d sent a link of, it's only a few dollars. If that doesnt solve it you could always get creative and drill a hole in the end of the rod and slide a cotter pin into it.
