So, after buying this basket case its coming together nice. So heres what I have done so far.

New transmission
Changed fluid in tranny, case, and rear diff.
new Transfer case
St. 1 exedy clutch
both front drive shafts
attached rear drive shaft, and got it bolted in.
Timing belt kit/new pulleys, and water pump
I did the basic stuff too, cleaned the IC, cut the back panel out. removed plug in BCS rest.
reset WOT, adjusted clutch travel. fixed boost leaks.

Is there anything I have forgotten to do you can think of tell me. Oh, I need to check base timing. It should be +5 at Idle?

I've basically done all the preventative maint. that was neglected when I bought the car.:applause:

I was going to get a 190, and a small 16g, and have it tuned but what else should I do that needs done first?

oh, I did a 2g exhaust manifold with new gaskets today the old manifold has about a half dozen cracks in it one almost wrapped all the way around between #2, and #3 on the right side of the turboOMG

I been shopping for a boost gauge for it. I can't seem to find a good two gauge combo. I was going to get boos t,and oil pressure.

Yeah once the knock sensor trips the cel your ecu will remain in "limp mode" until you reset it. I love this thread, you're actually fixing stuff that breaks, and it seems like you've learned a lot about these cars already. Unlike people who just ask, get an answer, then go start another thread asking the same thing. Great work man.

Thnks Habitat, I've spent a lot of time on machines. This ones getting what she needs my wife says Now other then my oil cooled suzuki, I got TWO mistress's! LOL I replaced the harmonic balancer today, and fired her up. After seeing it wobbling, today its straight as an arrow.

I'll be fixing the flex pipe another day I got other stuff to take care of first. I'm content after knowing my crank pulley isn't going to come off, and go through my timing cover. I know that split in the flex pipe throws the knock sensor off a bit its got too. But I logged a few runs yesterday with some STP booster at 0 knock through 4th gear! I want to get that 104oct. but that craps like 7.99! Anyway hey did you see where I logged the fuel trims at yesterday?

103%L, 100%M, 100%H..:applause:

I noticed at 6,500 rpms my injector duty was 101% but I'm not planning on really ever revving the engine that high. Tuned the way it is power falls off up that high.

Was about to say something myself about E85...since your already maxing your injectors out... Don't know if I would point him to that way of running it though..

Yeah it's not the best, especially since he likes his fuel trims where they're at. I've read that 1g's run extremely rich under WOT anyway though, so even stock you could manage at least a gallon of e-85 per tank w/out blowing stuff up. (THEORETICALLY)

Every car is different of course, and doing this w/out a wideband could be considered foolish. The odds of harming anything are extremely low, so I do it. Some won't, but it's always up to the owner and I try to warn them of what could happen, then leave it up to them.

So the inj. duty at 102% at 6,500 rpms is maxed huh? I seen the o2 sensor reading around 0.84 -.87 at that reading. I really don't ever plan on revving it that high at 5,500 or so, duty cycle was more like 92.5. at 5,800 it said 96% I'm not pushing it past that. The boost is set at 14-16 psi.

in a perfect world you would'nt want to see over 85% duty

Really I think I need to research this, and do something about that then.

I'm surprised that the injectors would max out so soon. Might want to search around on that issue, I"m not positive by any means, but it sounds a little early to me.

Like they shouldn't be maxing out at that boost? I'm planning on getting a 190 pump asap. Maybe I should do a rewire for now.

The stock fuel maps are very rich. If youre a/f is in the 9.3-10:1, it will cause your idc to be higher due to running rich. If you lean out some safely, you will free up idc.

Well today before it rained I did a few checks. I pulled the pulley side of the engine apart trying to find this noise. I pulled all the belts off, and the crank pulley.

When I started the car I thought the noise had went away. I found a bolt in the timing cover was stripped. Part of the end of the threads came out with the bolt, so I used some 5 minute jb weld, and put it back in, let it harden then tightened it up. Also found a bolt was missing off the cover, and it felt like the cover was kicked up a bit. I found a good bolt,a nd tightened that down. After I got it all back together the noise is still there.

I'm thinking maybe it could be the turbo? it doesn't smoke, it boosts up. Maybe I should make a video, its hard to make out where the noise is coming from. It sounded like it was coming from the belt side.
