Sup guys what a rough start this has been getting this car back to life.

I have been trying to stick to basic maintenance items just to keep costs down but the car was so poorly maintained that it has been a headache just trying to get her back to daily drivability. I say all that to say that today for the first time I was able to drive her back from JWMotorsports and feel comfortable and not pray that she doesn’t stop on me. I’m far from finished but we are getting there next is timing belt service.

Slow and steady guys we will all get there at our own pace just don’t lose sight of the goal

Keep it up, that's a good positive attitude! I like it! :thumb:

I see a couple troublesome things in your pics that are easy fixes:
  1. Get a battery tie-down to prevent it from shorting out on the hood.
  2. Remove your crank case atmospheric vent "filter" and route a hose from the valve cover to the pre-turbo intake snorkel (there should be a nipple on the snorkel to accommodate). On a MAF setup like you have with that CC vent filter, it will allow metered air to leave the system and cause it to run a tad rich. That vent also sometimes causes a restriction, which can lead to a smoke screen when you come off the throttle.

+1

Under vacuum when the PCV is open the breather port becomes a leak for unmetered air to enter the intake which can cause high idle and a lean AFR.

Thanks for this, I will look into ordering the tie down tonight the hose will have to wait for tomorrow.

Slow and steady, but keep your eye on the goal is right. My car sat in the garage for 15 years before the time was right to dig into it, and I’m going on three years into this build. But it keeps getting better and moves a little faster with each step. Definitely about the journey as much as the final destination.
