OK, I'm gett'n a #4 misfire every time I start her up.
reading through my Haynes manual says that the primary resistance should be .51 -.61 ohms & the
secondary resistance should be 11.5 - 13.5 ohms
(reading @ 20,000 ohms on multimeter) when I tested my coil pack Im gett'n .00 ohms for primary on both pins,
13.59ohms for 1/4 & 13.61ohms for 2/3 for secondary resistance
Ive put in new plugs (ngk BKR6es-11 @ .045) & premium wires & it still misfires on #4.
I swapped plug with #2 & swapped wire with #1 & its still misfires on #4.
I'm trying to rule out things before I go shell out $100 for new coil.
also she fires right up every time, but the check eng light keeps coming on.
thanks.

Edit: is that any better ?

You aren't getting any resolution with your ohmmeter set to 20K. You should set your meter to the next highest number above what you expect to read. For instance. if you expect to measure 13 ohms, you should set the meter to 200 (if your meter doesn't have a setting for 20).

I think your coil is fine, but set your ohmmeter properly and measure again just to confirm.

I would put my money on the spark plugs or spark plug wires. Do you know how old they are? It might be time to change them both anyway.

I replaced the plugs & wires 2 days ago. so their new. I will test again @ 200k ohms. also found coil for 60 @ rock auto.com, any of ya heard of them. what else can cause a miss fire ?

No no, not 200K, just 200.

Rockauto.com is a good source for cheap OE parts.

oh @ 200, my bad. just finished reading to check fuel injectors. when I pulled the #4 plug its kinda damp like maybe the injectors stuck open. so I'll swap it with another cylinder & see if it follows. not sure what else to try. the car does not stumble or fall, revs perfect. the eng light just always comes on giving me p0300 random misfire & p0304 #4. misfire. also read something about a bad o2 sensor could cause similar issues.

ok new readings are @ 200. primary are .08 for both pins & 0L. (nothing on meter) for secondary. I guess my coil is fine. also I dont know if this will help @ all but my innova canOBD2 3100e reader says this for my freeze frame data.

P0300
Fuel sys 1 - CL
Fuel sys 2 - NA
Calc load % - 5.10
ECT (*F) - 217
STFT B1 - -1.56
LTFT B1 - 8.59

Eng RPM - 800 (idle)
Vehicle speed (MPH) - 0

That doesn't sound right. Was your meter set to 200 ohms are 200 milliohms? "0L" means the resistance is "infinite" and the circuit is open, or the resistance is greater than the current range to which the meter is set. Try setting the meter to one notch higher.

I had it set @ 200 ohms. I touched one lead to #1 & the other lead to #4. the multi did nothing. same for #2 & #3. the first readings where set @ 200k ohms. I cant set my cheap radioshake meter any higher. I'm still waiting on a new coil, we'll see what that does.

I'm not blowing this tread off or anything & I haven't gotten it fixed yet. I should have the new coil, plugs, valve seals & o2 sensors in the next few days. Ive also determined that my #4 fuel injector is not leaking, my valve seals are leaking as my #4 plug is brown like the color of oil ( some charts say that is the normal color but this plug is damp) & the rest of the plugs are normal colored (tan/whitish) & dry. we'll see what happens with new parts installed soon.
