If I'm putting in a used ACT clutch with a used act flywheel? The setup came off a 6 bolt. Since I am a 7 bolt I cant use the flywheel that the ACT came with. Question is, do I have to get my flywheel resurfaced since the ACT is used also. I just dont want to waste my time to bring it to the shop and wait(I live in hawaii, so not that much shops that do that sort of things)

thanks:rocks:

How can I tell what kind of act clutch I have, the clutch cover is yellow in color.

is there like a serial number or something that I could tell what kind of pressure plate and clutch it is? When I took it out, the motor was out of the car already.

Heres the clutch setup I got. Not of the flywheel because I didn't take apart my GSX yet.

Anytime you replace a clutch you *should* resurface the flywheel. You could have hot spots in the flywheel that will lead to an earlier death of the disc. Also if your flywheel warped (riding the clutch, hard launches, etc.) you'll be dragging the disc which will also shorten it's life.

Have the flywheel step height checked all around to ensure evenness and no scoring (burn marks). Flywheel specification is .608-.613". If it is uneven or not in spec, act appropriately. The machinist should tell you fairly easily what you need to do with your flywheel.

Yellow flywheel? Do you mean yellow pressure plate?

Is it installed? If so how is the pressure when you press in the clutch? If it's moderate then it most likely a 2100, if it's on the stiff side then it's probably a 2600.

You mean pressure plate? I've never heard of a painted flywheel before. I believe most if not all of act's pressure plates are yellow as that's their signature color.

You won't know until your machinist looks at it. He will be able to tell if there's heat checking or other damage. Usually, yes. The thirty bucks is well-spent. Of course, there's also always the possibility that your current flywheel will need to be replaced instead of refinished, so be ready for that.

call ACT and talk to someone there, b/c I bought a car and parted it out, and it had an ACT clutch but the disk was shot. So I call to find out if it was a 2100 or 2600.There should be a mb##### on one of the fins of the pressure plate they will ask for. That will tell you all the info on it. They said it was an old style and they don't make disk for them anymore. So the pressure plate is no good.
