1G Do they still make rebuild kits for the 6 bolt engines?

About a year ago my 91 two quit on me. I finally got some time and space together to work on it and discovered I'm getting oil in 2 cylinders. So I think I fried my rings. I'm going to do all the verification tests to make sure but was having issues finding kits for the job. Most say they work across the whole range of 90-97 but I wasn't sure that was accurate.

I know I want new gaskets obviously, new rings, probably new bearings, water pump and belts are less than 3k miles on them so I think I can reuse those. Then oil pump maybe? The rings for the standard bore were out of stock on stm when I looked. Would I be able to bore it .20 over and upgrade the rings/pistons on an otherwise stock engine? Or is it better to stick with standard all around?

I don't know if any "complete" kits for a rebuild unless you use a shop that will put it all together for you. There are gasket kits that will come with all gaskets for an engine overhaul. Most pieces you can piece together from the same website and order it all at the same time. Some of the parts are 90-99 parts and some are 6 bolt specific to 7 bolt specific. When you look up the part, it should tell you to select the specific year to ensure you ge the correct part.

Try a few of the supporting vendors on this site, two good ones that I use frequently for oem type items are ExtremePSI and JNZTuning.

When most upgrade to ".020" over pistons is because they have damaged cylinder walls. You can surely upgrade to ".020" for the heck of it but if you don't need it, save your money and put it elsewhere.

I would just piece what you want arp bolts. Gaskets etc.
