On performance part out they had listed the steering wheel airbag one for 95s and the other for 96-99s. For some reason the listing disappeared and just lists it for 95-99s. I called mitsubishipartswarehouse, gave them my vin, and they said the airbags aren't interchangeable for 95s but the clock spring is. Even though performancepartout still lists a 95 as having a different clock spring. I'm a bit confuse I know the 95s are the one SRS system with impact sensors and a different diagnostic module for the SRS system. I'm trying to repair my SRS system on my 95 and definitely need a new steering wheel airbag. I just don't want to buy the wrong parts. Anyone have any info on this mainly the airbags and the clock spring is what I need to figure out which parts to get.

Yes, the 1995 model had a different sensor spring, at least.

You mean clock spring? I was told by mitsubishipartswarehouse that the clock springs are the same part number. I gave them the vin from my 95 and the vin from a 98 gsx I found on the internet. I also posted on a facebook dsm forum and someone said that the airbags are the same but they're just a different part number because of the color. If mitsubishipartswarehouse checked the vins and said the clock springs are the same wouldn't be safe to assume they are? I don't know though. If you look at the fitment list for what cars it fits it has it for the 95s to the 99s as well as some different mitsubishi models like the galant. https://www.mitsubishipartswarehous...lY2xpcHNlJnk9MTk5NSZ0PWdzdCZlPTItMGwtbDQtZ2Fz

I'm trying to figure out what exactly is different for the airbag that wouldn't make it work with my system or will they work. The steering wheel airbag on their site says it fits 95-96s. Is it just a different connection or something? If the clock springs are exactly the same I'm wondering why they wouldn't work on every year of airbag.

According to ASA, the 1995 and 1996 is the same air bag module. The Talon catalogue shows two part numbers for those model years but only due to different colors.

Okay but is there any reason 97-99 airbags wouldn't work? I heard of people even swapping in evo 8-10 steering wheels and able to have to airbag to be operational without a srs light. I'm wondering if as long as the connector on the 97-99s are the same for the airbag that it'll still work. I planned on buying a whole dash and entire steering wheel that's all black from a 98 eclipse so I'm wondering if all this can be swapped out on my 95 and still have the srs system working.

I confirmed with an actual mitsubishi dealership in my city that the clockspring for my 95 and a 99 are exactly the same part number. Gave him the vin of my car and one I found of a 99 off bringatrailer.com He did say the airbags have a different part number. I asked him if he thinks the airbags for the steering wheel are interchangeable. He said if the clocksprings are the same that he doesn't see why the airbags from the 97-99s wouldn't work with a 95 or 96. Since it doesn't seem like anyone's had experience doing this I'm just going to assume they are interchangeable and source out a black dash and steering wheel to swap my interior to black. If anyone has experience doing this (the 95 airbag to a 97-99 including the passenger) let me know I'd appreciate it.

If, based on the above info that ASA shows the air bag module being the same, leads us to the point that 1995 and 1996 are the same, then I would venture to say that the later 2G modules are interchangeable at least because the 1996 and 1997 diagrams for the SRS are completely identical.
