2G Do I need to replace the OEM Head Gasket?

I just got a new FP Green turbo but I have a friend telling me that I need to replace the head gasket for that new turbo! Is that true? Right now I have a eBay T28 running 20 PSI. Any advice?

I'm not sure how he can determine that you need a new head gasket for a certain turbo if the gasket is still good, I would not replace it just for the heck of it, run it and if it ever gives out then thats when you replace it, you might look into replacing the head bolts with upgraded head studs though for insurance, you would replace them one at a time if your not doing the head gasket, there are write ups on it if you decide to go that route.

Are you experiencing any symptoms of a blown HG? You could do a compression and leakdown test to prove him wrong if you want to go that route.

If the car is running fine there is no reason to replace the gasket. As others have stated head studs would be a good idea.

I think that's the direction I'm going to take! just replace the head bolts with ARP

Some people are clueless. The oem/oem style gasket is proven to hold tons of power with the proper studs installed. You could do the 1 by 1 stud install and send it. I put 40 psi through the Felpro composite gasket with L19 studs, took it like a champ.
