Just wondering if anyone knows where I can find the connectors required to make my own patch harness for a 2G. I see I can buy a patch harness but there's got to be a place to buy the connectors so I can spend a few hours and make my own.

I raided every mitsubishi I could find in my local junkyard until I found the right connectors. That was for my 1g though. When I made the harness to adapt the EVO VIII ECU to it.

Check more than just DSMs. Other cars have the connectors.

Someone has to make the dang things for the auto companies, and someone has to know who that someone is!

there was a thread started on this subject already. let me see if i can find it again, but there are several other cars that use the same ECU connectors as the 2G eclipse like some Honda's and Mazda's..

Ok, but again, unless I buy the ECU and tear it apart as well, I'd only be getting one set of connectors, which would be fine to splice into, but I'm looking for a patch harness, not a replacement harness.

that is pretty much what i did when i put together my patch harness. tyco electronics manufactures the metal connectors so they should make the plastic parts as well...

here is the link for the metal connectors directly from them, you should also find the plastic parts here as well. good luck

some more ECU's you can keep your eyes open for to take apart.

you can try that middle link, you can buy the pins directly from them and they have all kinds of connectors and plugs you just might have to do some digging. obviously from the link to DIYautotune you can buy what you are looking for you just need to find out where from.. if all else fails maybe you can send DIYautotune an e-mail and ask them where they get them from or if they would be willing to sell you one.

Occasionally they pop up on ebay, but I usually buy them from Electronic Component Distributor | Onlinecomponents.com (I used to make conversion harnesses to run other makes of ECUs on certain cars for their programmability).

Part number for the 26p/16p/12p/22p connector is amp/tyco 175448-6.
175448-6 Product Details - Tyco Electronics

The number after the dash denotes what color the housing is molded in. -6 is grey. -7 is yellow. I think the actual DSM connectors are natural, but they all connect the same so quit being picky.

Just search the part numbers for the other connectors on OC's website. the ECU side connector is about $10. The others are $2-3 ea and the pins are 10-25¢ ea. I think OC still has a minimum $30 order though, so maybe buy more than one and sell the rest.

It's actually easier to grab the harness side connectors from a junkyard, since they usually don't charge much for them and they come professionally crimped with differnent colors (makes it much easier to follow which wires moved where).

Initially I'd seen the patch harness for $170, I've now found them for around $80, at that price it's no longer worth making my own when you factor ask of the parts and wire.

This thread can still be useful if the retailers ever jack their prices up, but for now it's just more cost/time effective to buy one at $80.

Thank you all for the replies!
