I dropped my vehicle off to get the timing belt changed and just picked it up today. I notice a diffrence in my vehicle performance. before i turned my 1999 GSX in it spooled quickly and could instantly feel the trubo kick in. now it takes time and my BOV is not working properly. I noticed that the line from the intake maifold to the BOV is sucked flat. what could cause this. I bought the vehicle from some one else and thay already had the Blitz BOV installed. could he have changed the timing. retard or advance? thanks

I would think maybe they screwed up lining up the cams to what they were before. Causing it to have the valves open and close at different times that usual.

Hope that helps.

I would take it back it sounds like they maby did your timing wrong. Did you have them remove the BS.

I plan on taking the vehicle back tomorrow. I was not sure if the prior owner adjusted the timing. I noticed the vacuum line from the top of the intake manifold to the Blitz BOV is sucking the line flat. what is a BS? sorry fellas but i'm a newbie. thanks i appreciate all your help

no i still have my balance shaft in place. this is my daily driven. also i notice while driving I feel a some vibration on the gas pedal ans steering wheel. also at idle the engine shakes a little bit. could the timing be off?

yes it could it could be a boost leek it could be the balance shafts are not timed it could be lots of thing's. first thing is first bring it back and have them look at it. people are probly going to disagree with me saying don't go back to a shop that messed it up. I look at it this way if you brought it to them its probly because your not capable of doing it yourself. so i figure you would have trouble troubleshooting what it is.

If you plan on doing it yourself
1. check the belt and make sure everything is lined up and that a screw driver can go far into the bold hole in the rear balance shaft ( check the V faq on timing belts if you don't understand that)
2. boost leek test (v faq)
3 ignition timing ( v faq)
4 spark plugs ( v faq)
5 wires (v faq)
6 coils ( v Faq)

Being that it happened the same time you got your car back from a T-belt change id bet the ranch its 1 or 2 . good luck

also question the shop on wether or not they timed the rear balance shaft 180 degrees out of timing or not.

How did the car idle before the Belt compared to now?

do you have a boost guage if so whats your vacuum at idle?

I am very well capable of doing it myself. I am in the military and stationed overseas so my "free" time is limited not only to my job (12-14 hrs a day) but this is also my daily driven vehicle so vehicle down time must be kept at a minimum. Time vs. money. i figure that i can have them do it since i already work long hrs. thanks for the advice though.

on a diffrent note i will mention to the "mechanic" about the balance shaft. as far as the boost leak the car idled fine and boost was great. it was only after i got the timing belt changed that i noticed the diffrence. if it was a boost leak would it cause the vacuum hose from the top of the intake to the Bllitz DD BOV to be sucked flat?

Ignore the "sucked flat" hose, mine is always like that and it has nothing to do with your problem. When it's "sucked flat" mess with the throttle cable and give it some gas, it'll pressurize then. That line is under vacuum when you're sitting but once the engine is pulling air in the line will fill.

It sounds like they timed it wrong.

Well the reason i ask is because it was not like that when i turned it in to the shop. also i lifted up the hood and had my friend accelerate while i looked at the hose and as the vehicle rpm went up it did the oppisite of what you said. it was then that the hose starts to flatten out. when parked or sitting at idle the hose seems normal. what would cause this to suddenly happen. it was not like this before.

Do you have that cheap colored vac hose that is really flimsy?

I remember now when mine would do that it was the cheap crappy hose. Now with normal hose (plain black stuff that is sold by the foot not in those packages) mine doesn't do that anymore. I just went to check my car and remembered that I changed mine out a while ago. I figured it should be under vac at idle and when given throttle is should expand as it builds pressure, then you shift, release pressure, and it starts the cycle over again but I'm not a wiseman by any means. Maybe one of them will step in.

Well thats grate news and i was not trying to offend you i just assumed it:p

it should not take long to check out some of the things i listed . checking the T belt should not talk any longer then one night. so go grab the V faq and get at it ;)

my vacuum at idle sits around 14-15 on the boost guage. I also noticed a weird noise on the belt side. I can't pinpoint it but it is on the belt side. also when i accelerate i can hear a winding noise. what is this?

a winding noise really loud or kind of low? i had that big time when my timing belt tensior went im in the porcess of chaing my pistions and timing stuff and geting the balance shaft out but i had that same noise when the tensior was on its way out the door

it is kind of low. I can really hear it when i first start up the vehicle. sounds like something is grinding or hitting the timing cover. I had my tensioner and water pump changed at the same time i changed my belt. it all came in a kit.
