2G Did the early 2g eclipses come without a spoiler??

I have an early 95 2g eclipse rs, and there is absolutely zero holes for where the low rise spoiler mounts to. Previous owner threw on a spoiler from some sort of a chrysler. I was just curious if any of these cars came without a spoiler. If they all did someone did one absolutely terrific job on getting rid of the holes.

I've never seen or heard of one so that's something new. The previous owner said it was an rs so it didn't come with a spoiler and that confused me, because I've had plenty of the rs but only with spoilers.

The standard RS wasn't equipped with a spoiler.

By 1996 the three-piece spoiler was part of the "Preferred Equipment Package" which added air conditioning and alloy wheels among other upgrades. That said, an RS with a spoiler was pretty common after that, but your 1995 wouldn't have had one from the factory.

The base car @Spleen8urLSX mentioned, I believe (and I'm still trying to find concrete info on this), was only available in the 1996 model year, and it sounds like it might be equipped similar to the Eagle Talon Base that came out in 1997. That base Eclipse definitely existed, but I'm still trying to find one to document it.

About as base as you can get. The one I just got the guy swapped everything from a gs, so I had literally no idea there was a model below rs. I thought rs was as base as it got. If the spoiler wasn't attached I would have left it alone.

It’s just a typical 2g nt cluster but with a block off where the tach usually is. I had no quick luck on Google images.

I had a 1996 rs with a blue dash, blue seats, blue door panes, blue headliner, power windows, power mirrors, moon roof, spoiler, and 14 inch alloy wheels. Basically it was a GS package except with fog light delete and side skirt delete. I had a friend who had a hard top gs model with steel wheels and hub caps from the factory. How the heck do they even price those differently on the showroom

Mitsubishi was absolutely stupid for making so many trim option variations. And every year they changed the fabric patterns, and every trim level had different trim colors. And then the talons had completely different interior fabric choices. One of the many reasons this 2g platform was a failure was because they had so much cost tied into different trim levels and different engine manufacturers, mitsubishi had no choice other than to make the 3g eclipse a bland boring basic commuter because the second gen had zero cost control.

So yes you could order the rs trim with no options. Crank windows, no spoiler, steel wheels, no rear defroster. I believe ac was not an option so every car had ac from the factory.

The most famous zero option car ive know was user HadesOmega who had a built motor 420a base model car running hubcabs and steel wheels. He probably still has this car he just isn't an active forum member

What the hell even was the point of that trim level?
The whole purpose of the 95+ was to carry on the line of the 1g after the end of the DSM partnership, as it had a reputation for being a quick sporty car..
Even though the reliability factor was already sinking in due to how they were treated.
And the inherent problems that just were baked into the car.

They already added the 420A variant, they had to make it worse by removing standard (even by then) equipment? Talk about resting on your laurels.

Then they go pull the 3g eclipse, 4g, and now the cross..
Oof.

I see 100x more CX5/50 than eclipse cross nowadays.

That cluster with the blanked out tach: I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it. I'm not sure if that's crazy or clever or what to make of it. I'd probably pay a premium to mount that on a wall or something. To think you could actually buy a DSM from the factory that way: amazing!
