im looking at a set of 18x9.0+40 in front and 18x10+40 for the rear sickkk jdm rims. The q i have is can i run these??-goin for vip look, sick lipped up rims. So please anybody please help if can...

i think where you are loosing people is the part you want to get the drift look with a FWD car, just not a smart decision to make if you dont want people to make fun of you

Keep in mind it's going to be hard to give you a direct answer. Find out what ride height you want to be at, then find out what the max rims width and offset people run for that height on your car. Are you going for backspacing to clear big brakes? You'll have to give up a bit of lip for that or run wider wheels. Are you going for maximum lip but keeping the stock brakes? Think of what you can do to the stock brakes to make them look "adequate" behind the wheels. Good balance between visual elements is key to pulling off a "look" successfully.

If you find out what the max width/diameter rim you can run on your car is then we can help you a lot more. Also are you trying to keep the fenders stock, rolled, pulled, or flared?

Good luck and hopefully we can help you out.

typical hater on this site. Whats wrong with trying a different look?

Not at all.

I think that was the only mildly negative comment I have made, because well... I am honestly getting sick of all of the crappy posts people make.

What I am REALLY sick of is the whole "It's their car they can do what they want" attitude. Especially when it comes to stuff like after market lighting. I get sick of not being able to see people's brake lights because they are to blacked out or their head lights being stupidly bright because they got way to high of beams.

Honestly if you are to stupid to search for something that is easy to find you are to stupid to do it correctly and I don't want your piece of junk on the road endangering my life and other people's lives as well. Yet everyone answers their questions.

I have no problem with modified cars on the road as long as its not done by a total idiot who can't read and follow simple directions, or by cheap ebay crap that is likely to fall off and kill someone. If you think its not likely and does not happen let me ask you why do you think DOT approval exists?

All I'm saying is this has been covered A LOT on SEVERAL different sites and a simple Google search would have answered it. It's not like any of this was specific questions related to his progress of installation, which he could not find something similar to.

Am I a "Typical hater"? No, I am not.

Well i have searched and came up with this site. I thought that with all of the knowledge here someone could help. As far as safety try eating the dash of a tacoma while a drunk no insurance dipshit hits you head on at 50+mph.while you are just going to the store to feed your 2 kids. I have more titanium in me than most of these snazzy motors. So goin fast is fun i just wanted some info thats all..thats y i supported this site b4 even askin a question.

The answer to your question is no one on here is geared towards the "VIP" look, we are geared towards function. I am looking for some 17x8.5s in a plus 38-40 so I will not burn all 4 on a launch. Your looking for 50 lb wheels that are WAY to wide for a dsm so you look cool. I understand you want to do something different but dsmtuners is here to help with function.

I am looking for wheels with a 12 inch lip. Any suggestions?

yeah go buy a 350z. Gl trying to fit a 12" wide wheel let alone a wheel with a 12" lip.

function over form fellas

to the OP you could go with 18x9+20 and would likely have to stretch a 235/40 and roll the piss out of your fenders

Yeah to bad dsmtuners has an appearance section and all the "tuners" still make it in there to spread their hatred.

Typical because most of the people here could give 2 shits about aesthetics especially if it would cost functionality/power.

That being said, the guy wants to slam his car and put some Olyde Skool RWD Driftor rimz on his car.

His car is a FWD or an AWD That uses FWD offsets. Those deep dished wheels are like that for a reason, they had to be like that to fit the car.

Our wheels have a very high positive offset for a reason, the have to be like that to fit.

Now if you by some miracle of god manage to find a set of RWD wheels that dont scrub, your gonna have to blow your fenders way out or the wheels will just stick out the sides and look stupid, not sick!! :ohdamn:

Sure do when people come and post up stuff that is obviously not a good idea by any stretch. I mean if you want your car to ride like shit and be potentially unsafe I want you to keep that shit off the street. :ohdamn:

1. English. Supporting member or not, when you aren't in the Hangout (and preferably when you ARE, also) you will type properly. Freebie warning.

2. VIP is about -90bazillion degrees of camber, air-ride, curtains, crystally bullshit...none of which really fit on this platform. Low and flush is fine, it won't kill your car or eat wheel bearings when done right.

3. You won't fit a 10" wheel on these cars without skating it out. Period.

Want a low, clean, "JDM" look...find a set of Works, Volks, etc in about +35 or so and invest in proper suspension.

:applause::applause::applause:

OP if you want to do it, then you'll do it regardless of what people say. I personally dislike any car that looks as horrible as those do regardless of make. It'll take a lot of work to make the vehicle you want to perform properly.

This is not the correct way and I laugh at it every time I see it.

Not to mention, what are you going to do when you need to swerve out of the way of something? :You cant!
