Could anybody please tell me: which pin is which on the DB9 male connector, because I don't know and I don't want to solder the wrong pins. any pic's would be helpful, thanks

A DB9 is a connector spec for a 9 pin connector with a D shaped shell. The pins are nuimbered 1 to 9 and depend on if the connector is male or female as to which pin is 1.

The most common use of a DB9 connector is for a IBM PC compatable serial port where the male connector is configured as a RS232 DTE and the female connector as a RS232 DCE.

Right now you haven't provided enough information to give you a simple answer. Perhaps if you told us what your tring to do.
