My dashboard lights are too dim at night and barely visible? Anyone know any way to fix this or replace the lights?

Did someone ever mess with the potentiometer on the dimmer switch? It also could be that it broke I grabed and extra one incase mine ever craps out or the bulbs are going out , what's your voltage at when the cars running?

This is for a 1g unsure what dsm your rock'n :rocks:
Here's a picture it's that little brown thing on my spare dimmer it's All the way to the right on mine

Yeah I turned them all the way up and it's still bad, if I turn them down its pretty much as if they were off! I think my bulb might be going out? But how do I replace them and I have a 2g with a six bolt

I'm not familiar with 2gs but what you can do is test the dimmer switches resistance if it stops increasing in ohms as you turn down the lights ( viseversa) or if the resistance doesn't change than you have a bad switch you can test this out of the vehicle although I do recommend you unplug the (-) negative terminal just to be safe when you remove it,

Whats the Voltage at the fuse For your brake lights , interior lights ect could be a bad wire but it takes alot of time to fish around and test so I'd test the switch FIRST

Your bulbs will either be good or not. If they are dim, they aren't getting enough voltage. One could always wire around the dimmer/potentiometer (which could be faulty) and then they would get full voltage but you wouldn't be able to turn them down, but I never turn mine down anyway which is probably like a lot of other people. It would be a hard test but you could do a voltage test at one of the sockets to actually see what the voltage is on the bulbs. With the dimmer all the way up they should be seeing 12-13.5 volts I would imagine.

I think I will try these options ! Thanks! Hopefully I cab get it working, another thing? Can it possible be something in the fuse box?

The 2g dimmer switch is not a potentiometer so resistance tests are meaningless.

To test dash lights, unplug the dimmer switch connector under the dash. It should be a 4 pin inline connector with 3 wires on it - black with yellow stripe, black, and green with white stripe. On the harness side plug, jumper the black with yellow stripe wire to the black wire. The dash lights should now go on full when taillights are on.

For dimmer functionality: When you find out just how expensive a new 2g dimmer is (which is different than the 1g one), you may decide to just stay with this fix (or go used).

I believe your bulbs might be going out. If you turned the dimmer nob all the way up and it's barely visible. it very well could be your bulbs.
