Dark Performance Manifold

I havent had any time to actually get the car running. One of my fears was fitment. The hood closes with the manifold on and with the HX40 hanging of it, it still fits nice. I still have to figure out my downpipe situation though

Anyone have any trouble installing this manifold? I bought one and am now trying to install it. My #2 runner is hitting the stud above it and wont let me put the manifold on all the way and seams like the nut wont fit on there. Anyone have any issues installing it or is it just me?

I have a DNP manifold and I ran into the exact same thing. It hits the runner. I looked at it every which way and then cut a lil more than a 1/8th of an inch off the end of that particular stud and voila problem solved. The opther option would be to slide the manifold on the studs then while it is loose put that nut on and then move it into a position for tightening everything down.

take a pic
gotta have a nut on it

Ok. I think I know what you're talking about. The top of the inside curve of that runner is hitting on the nut. So you will probably have to cut the stud down just a whee bit and install that nut first. Slide the manifold up onto the studs. Before the flange is all the against the exhaust manifold start that nut onto the stud. That way you only need the space the nut itself takes up to install it. Don't tighten it all the way. Then put the rest of the nuts on.

The nut wont even line up with the hole when the manifold is off the car so there is no way the bolt will be able to twist on with the runner in the way. Here are some pics.

I even put a shorter stud in and there is no way to get that nut on and even tried exactly what you stated with the shorter stud in.

What the blue blazes?! Hmmmm I see what you mean. Since it's blue I imagine it's not returnable. All sorts of ideas pop into my head about attacking it with a dremel tool and making a lil bit of room. That would entail actually cutting down into that runner and creating just enough room to get that nut on. Keep in mind you'd have to get that spot welded in on the inside of the runner so it doesn't blow out. Other ideas? Find a nut that matches the thread pitch of the studs but is 11mm instead of 12mm. Or a nut that isn't as thick.

Well I got the manifold ceramic coated by them so it better be returnable if it can't be fixed. And im not gonna take a dremel to it because I can see it causing more problems which will lead to buying a new manifold. I hope MAP will fix it or atleast do something about it.

You can cut the stud down until it's just the length of the width of the nut.

Yea things turn nightmarish quickly with overzealous dremel tool work. And it looks like any clearancing you'd do would on the inside of that tight curve. Very hard to get to to weld. I'd say scratch that idea.

Yes but if you try to line the nut up with the hole when the manifold is off the car, it wont even line up with the hole. So cutting the stud short wont help. Either the runner has to be cut and lengthened out a little or dented in. I am not gonna do anything to it not to see if MAP will do something so I dont want to void the 1 yr warranty.

Looks to be fail. Going to have to call MAP. explain the situation. I'm sure they'll work with you. They're good guys. Sorry dude. It's frustrating when new cool parts showup and there's something wrong with them.

Ya I guess a positive is that I live 20 min from them. Man this sucks, I was gonna bring my car to them in a week or two to get some fab work done.

Back form the dead-

Anyone have one of these units laying around??

im using a DNP and had no fitment issues like stated in this thread. i havent had any fitment issues listed in this thread. also anyone else notice the OPs manifold he bought had a crack in it in the first two pix he posted? :ohdamn: THEN he bought it LOL

This manifold ended up cracking on me at the collector by the WG runner. MAP ended up rewelding it for me and didn't crack again for the short period I ran this.
