Here is a few pics of a custom side exit exhaust I built for Auto Rs T. Its full 3" stainless. It comes out the passenger side of the car for a couple reasons.

We wanted to be able to put a small race muffler in to keep it quiet-er
No alternator relocation necessary
Not as noticeable when you get pulled over :sneaky:

It is completely bolt on, has a straight through 3" muffler, and is fully tig welded. I haven't been tig welding for a long time so I am still practicing but I think it turned out pretty good. It is pretty close to the lower radiator hose but he heat wrapped it and it doesn't cause any problems. Let me know what you think.

Here are some pics and a short video for your viewing pleasure :thumb:

Sounds good! Not as loud as I thought it would be.

Looks awesome man, and would you make one to sell?? If so please let me know how much ### I'm interested.

Thank you all for the compliments!

Honestly I don't think I could make these and sell them. For what it cost in materials plus all the time in fitting the pieces and welding them up I don't think too many people would be willing to pay the price I would have to ask for it. I did it mostly as a favor to Jim. I kinda owed him one for loaning me some dough so I could have my car running to race at the 2011 Buschur IDRC

Stock 90 cams with my good 'ol 8 year old Buschur B16g.

I like the exhaust a lot. I've been wanting to change it for quite some time now. It turned out great and sounds a lot better than I expected... my neighbors might even agree.?.?

Thanks for the kind words everyone so far and thanks for gathering the parts and gluing them together Brad, got some skills. W'ell see how it works out.

looks pretty nice, and that was nice 1st gen...what color blue is that? i bought my car repainted and its pretty muc hthe same color LOL we might be twins LOL

Let me know what you think.

Brad got some skills.

I agree, Brad has some talented skills. I also noticed his skills in his build blog, and I like the results of his BEP S256ET.

Coincidentally, I think that I had the privilege to met Jim H. (Auto RS T) at last year’s DSM Meet in PA. I believe he, and some friends, arrived early, right after me (I had a Fiero since my GSX was at a shop), because he had driven from OH. I was curious if any of you were going to be able to attend this year?

It does look really nice and kudos from me as well on putting some sound killing ability into it. As for your TIG welds, keep up the practice and you'll be there in a little while, but they do look pretty decent IMO. you can see the learning going on in them with the differences in bead apearance and such, but everything looks decent as far as i'm concerned i'd be oklay with those welds on mycar and that says a good bit IMO :D

keep up the pics of the work you do, i fab to make my living on my own little business but i always love looking at other's work

Thank you all for the compliments!

and for the selling/pricing thing.. it's the most common thing i deal with when people talk to me about getting their first custom/non-commercial piece.. most think that because it's not a compoany building the part that it will be like half or 1/3rd of what retail pieces are but in reality most times you can really barely cut them down to 80% of retail and are barely making anything for your time, but when you're not buying 5k dollars of materials at a time they really come out being about the same but the custom fitted piece is always much cooler just because it is custom made

So, taking from your statement about our neighbors liking this alot better.. Is it quiter than you previus exhaust

I was just wondering what muffler that is that you used on this? I've been trying to find a way to do this. My uncle is a welder and he told me to find the parts i want and he'll build it for me. So I'm tryin to find a not extremely loud muffler and using a 3in hi flow cat so that it stays "legal" in a sense. Thanks in advance.

I was with Jim at the meet! We drove my laser to philly from norwalk. I remember meeting you :)

Thanks Glenn! I know the welds could be better. At this point I had been welding for 3 months or so, all self taught, and this was probably my 5th or 6th welding project. I like projects like this because they do give me alot of practice.

As far as pricing goes, like you say it would be very hard for me to produce these and sell them at a price that would be worth my time. Just in parts alone there is rite around $200 plus my 4-6 hours of total fabrication and welding time spent on it. Just alot of work and time for the small profit I would make.

I will post up my next projects on here for you to check out :hellyeah:

Yeah Jim, that car is pretty nasty. I watched the build unfold and its beautiful underneath that faded out North Carolina shell. Looking forward to seeing more results at the Ohio Shootout.

Sorry we couldn't make the meet. We've been pretty busy over here with my other project, work, and some other repairs from a diferent trip I took recently.

We met Wes on the way rolling down the highway and trailed him to the meet. We ran the whole way on E-85 and it was a fun and long experience zig zagging for fuel at odd hours. LOL

Yes it is. I had a 2.5 downpipe to a 2.25 pipe that ended at the rear diff, this is quieter.

I don't know where the muffler came from, its 16 inches long overall so take that into account on your project with the cat.

Looks good buddy! Don't know how I feel about the closeness to the IC piping, perhaps heat wrap that as well? Otherwise you're heating up your freshly cooled air (which really isn't gonna be that cool to begin with LOL)

I need to get some reflective sheathing, but its good for now.
