Tips for building bumper, side exit exhaust?

5 inch hole, leaving a 1/4" gap around the pipe.

Not sure what you mean about the switch unless you're talking about fitment. I had a crappy ebay T3 manifold on the car for the Holset. I just couldn't see paying $800+ for a manifold. So I went with an FP manifold around the holidays for next to nothing, much less worries about cracking, etc. and the turbo bolts up without any issues. Didn't even have to dent my waterpipe. Amazed cause I figured I'd have to dent the heck out of it. Anyway, the turbo was shifted over slightly, and different size outlets (3" for the Holset, 2.5" for the Dsm86) so needed to make a new pipe. I think I'm gonna like this Dsm86 much more though. Nice sound, but most importantly, it'll support more power with less fabricating hassle.

Ah, well I just recently got it running (cause of a wideband issue with my AEM, but now have an Innovate) so don't really know about the power difference yet. Still have some boost leaks to fix and finish tuning it.

As for the hole, you may wanna use a cereal box or something and cut the hole to size so you can get an idea of what the pipe will look like before cutting a hole in the bumper. And I haven't had any issues with melting, so long as the pipe doesn't touch the bumper. But keep in mind that you don't wanna go touching the tip after driving around cause it WILL get hot enough to make you go, "ouch". Lol.

Yeah i bet, it's already hot out the back of the car. This bumper is already cracked in a few areas so I'm gonna go at it with a hole saw. Paint is still good though so i dunno if i should start the cut from the outside or inside.

I already made a vband o2 housing so things already clear the oil filter just need to make anoter vband attachment to go out thr side of the bumper, then i can switcj between full exhaust for daily and stick on the side exit on track days.

I'd go from the outside. If you go from the inside, it may push the plastic and paint outwards. And I'd maybe put some painters tape on it when you cut it to help keep it from splintering. That's what I did anyway.

Guess I need to take a before and after video of my car so everyone knows what it sounds like. But I'm kicking myself in the butt right now. I'm just now noticing that the freakin exhaust tip that I ordered was an oval. How in the heck did I freakin MISS that?!?!?!? I want round. NOT oval. Uggghhh!!!! Back to the drawing board. Grrr!!!!!!!

I have a huge boost leak that needs to be fixed and lawn mower to buy so I can mow the grass, but it's now running. Here's a start. Loving the sound of my new Dsm86 turbo spooling though btw.

Make video work.

I just clicked on it. Should work just fine. Or, just get on Youtube and type a search for Dsm86 and you'll see it.

I haven't yet. Ended up breaking a rod and blew a hole about the size of a football out the back of the block. Pretty close to having my aluminum rod 2.3L built though, cams, and converting to SD. Just waiting on some money that the government owes me (any day now) so I can get the parts, start the build, and then it's on :)

I do plan to post some track vids asap though.

Ahhh sounds sooo sick, stupid california laws. You need another sound clip of the rev limiter, another than that great work!

Ohhhh you had a stock block? Haha how much boost were you running? I just picked up a 3586hta and i can't wait to hear that ballbearing spool again.

It was a stock block from a salvage yard motor that I had only planned to use while building my Stroker motor, but it didn't last very long. Wasn't even pushing it hard when it happened. Just normal acceleration while in rush hour traffic, then BOOM and could see metal flying everywhere in the rearview and cars swerving to keep from running over it. Haven't bothered pulling the motor yet until my other motor is built.

Did you get aDsm86 like me or a T3 housing?

How much boost do you plan to run? I'm gonna give a shot at 36 psi like i had on my holset and see how things go i know the FP is far more efficient at lower boost levels than the holset so in curious to see what happens at 36psi especially since there are some hitting 9.9 at what like 25psi on this turbo? i got the .85AR t3 cause i jave an stm t3 manifold.

Well, no E85 around here but shooting for 30 psi on 93 octane. Eventually I plan to go Meth injection. But have other mods I wanna get first. So it won't be anytime soon. I wanna tune for what I'll be using most often. Not just have a tune for a special occasion at the track if I can't run it on the street. And racing fuel isn't cheap and I'd like to keep my O2 sensors for as long as possible. If I can't run it all the time, I don't want it.
