I was just reading about valve timing and how the cams play into it and hence we have VTEC and other such systems, and it just got me curious as to one, at what engine speeds is our engine most efficient, mine particularly the 2.0 n/t, and two, do we have any kind modification or part that would emulate or accomplish variable valve timing?

I doubt you can rig up a VTT on a 4g63.

Most VVT set ups are cain driven, and the VVT phaser on the cam(s) is fed oil pressure.

When the VVT oil feed solinod is activated, it allows oil pressure to advance the cam.

So unless you can set up the eletronics needed, and modify the cam to accept a cam phaser.
Then make or find a chain drive set up for the engine, then make a front cover, along with a new style oil pan.

The simple awnser will be NO. There is not a simple VVT set up.
I feel with the age of the 4g63 and even the 420A, if it was possiable to do within reason, it would have been by now.

If you want to mess with your valve timing, there is a mechanical product out, that has been out for years you can use.
Alot of DSM'ers have it, it is called "Adjustable Cam Gears" New sets can be found for about $200-$300.

The work well and are a basic drop in when the timing belt is being changed.
Dyno time is advised to get most out of the MVT componets.
