Just saw this on Modern Performance’s socials. Crower is the last cam maker for the 420A after BC pulled out a couple years ago, so this is the last chance to buy new performance cams for a 420A if you want them.

I've seen this coming for a while. I wonder if they're still going to offer grind-to-order or if any and all 420A support will cease.

I've been holding on to my old set of Crower stage 1 cams. I only put around 2000 miles on them. Maybe they'll be worth a ton in 5 years when nothing else is left.

I sold my set of Crane 18 grind Neon cams about 6 months ago for 350. I paid like 200 for them years ago. Wasn't sure if there would be anyone left out there wanting neon performance so figured I'd try to unload them before they were just paper weights but they sold off quick. I sold off a couple neon/420a cranks for 300 each a couple years ago as well. The 420a parts seem to be worth more than the 4g63 stuff. I think the 420a stuff got scarcer because the low value of the cars 8-10 years ago sent a lot of them to the crusher.

It's so strange what becomes worth money and what doesn't.

Scarcity drives value pretty reliably. Cranes for Neons are always going to be worth something, they were the best choice and stopped being produced over 10 years ago. Neons are still going strong in the tunersphere and parts do wear out or break, so the demand is always there for stuff that can be used. Any good 16s or 18s will be gone within a week at $400 or less, and the bigger ones demand a premium. A guy listed used Crane 28s at like $1,000 and they sold nearly instantly. Good crankshafts are hard to find because they’re hard to extract and because they no longer come reman, I couldn’t find one to replace mine. Not many people are willing to crawl around in glass at the U-pick, and spend 3 hours busting knuckles in oily messes to get one, either. Ultimately yeah, you never know you’re in the golden days until they’re gone.

The Crower or Brian Crower? The Crower stage 2's are actually on the mild side. I didn't notice a significant idle vacuum or RPM decrease when swapping the Crane stage 1's for them. The Brian Crower stage 2's are a bit more aggressive and impactful though.

Crower Stage 2s 64462-2 I’m hoping to still have good drivability, How did yours idle on the stock ecu?
