Well since last night, my car developed a creak when you turn the wheel. It doesn't matter wether it's on or off for power steering purposes. I have a video with the sound. It was taken from my iPhone.

Also, I just swapped in a black dash for my gray one. My stock boost gauge no longer works (worked on the gray dash). I use it for monitering my battery voltage via ECMLink. I checked to make sure I was still getting current from the batter and Link showed I am so the gauge isn't working. I pulled the cluster out and put it back in to reseat it and it's still not working. Where should I look to get this done?

I couldn't hear any noise in the video but I didn't want to crank it up too loud at work. But, something you could check are the bushing/struts. I had a problem with my dd Accord with a creaking noise like that and it was suspension related. I hit a big pothole and it went away so I never found the outcome.

So, you can use this as a bump and kind of an idea until I get home to listen to it.

I couldn't really hear it in the video either, but you could pull the wheel and check the clockspring to see of the noise is coming from that. I had a cracking noise coming from my clockspring when I installed the wheel on my car when I got it.

Don't know why no one can hear the creaking, I can hear it on my phone. Not exactly sure what the clock spring is... I am going to try to get he front end off the ground to see if 's still donning it then.

Your clockspring is the black, circular plastic piece with a yellow instructional sticker behind your steering wheel.

Sounds like a ball joint going bad. (I could hear it just fine on this dinky netbook speaker :thumb:)

And GSX16, I love it, "I hit a big pothole and it went away so I stopped worrying about it". ROFL ROFL

Power steering fluid is full. I'm going to jack the front end up in a bit and see of he noise is still there and how easy it is to turn the wheel by hand. Should I try any other tests to help narrow it down or something I should look for?

I say a bad pump. If it does it on both left and right turns, i hardly doubt its the ball joints, tie rods, or anything else bad on BOTH sides. I say pump

Ok lifted the car up and the noise goes away. The sound is coming fromthe passenger side wheel and looking under the car he lateral arm ball joint has a hole in the boot. Might that be the problem?

VETTE: Idk, bro. That's exactly the noise my Talon made when one of my ball joints went bad, and it made the noise when I turned the wheel either way and even if I went over bumps sometimes... :idontknow:

Zap some WD-40 in there see if that quiet things down, and if it does, shove some grease in there until that gets replaced.

+1 on that! ^^^

I forgot to mention that what you describe sounds exactly like my Talon was. When you lift the car, you take the load off the suspension so the ball joint isn't being ground into its socket. The noise might go away for a little even after you lower the car back down, but it will come back if the ball joint is the culprit. Just a heads up: those lower control arms are friggin expensive. I ended up pulling one from a junkyard car. Not the ideal solution, but it works great if you're a little short on funds...

I guess. But when ive seen pumps go out, it sounded like that. And always did it, no matter which way you turned.

Im really leaning towards the ball joint on the lateral arm on the passenger side.
