Does anyone have an easyer way of torquing down the crank shaft sprocket bolt without building that tool ??? im kinda in a hurry to get this car back together and i dont wanna spend time building that tool... any other tips???:thumb:

if motor is out then have someone hold the flywheel/flexplate.if the motor is in then take a pry bar and wedge it between the bell housing and the teeth of the flywheel/flexplate.use the opening where the starter goes and be careful not to chip the teeth on the flywheel/flexplate.

hmmm i had a fealing the only way of doing it without the tool was to wedge something like that... hmm i guess ill have to build the tool i guess... Can anyone tell me the size of the crankshaft :thumb: pulley bolts... i bent one and i need to get some new ones... thanks guys

take the bolt to the parts store and tell them you need one just like it...you will be going there anyway.:thumb:

ya thats true but i always like to be prepared.. i believe its an 8mm x 1.25 im not totally sure though.. i dont like to trust my motor to a noodle at the bolt store who only works there because hes a dropout with nothing better to doLOL .. anyone know the bolt size???

Here's an easier way to tighten that sucker down. Take your car off jackstands and then have a friend press the brake in and put your car into 4th gear. Then go ahead and take your torque wrench and turn it until you feel it actually stop moving the crank. At this point go to town with the wrench to get it to the proper torque spec. :thumb:
