crankshaft sprocket install help!!

can the sprocket and plate behind it go on one way? the way its on now seems right but when I check TDC it seems like its a little bit before tdc like a 1/3 inch away maybe? I did take it off once to do the bs removal. thanks for the help

Yup, the crank sprocket and plate should only be able to go on (1) way.. the plate can be used backwords i guess but its pretty easy to tell which way faces out.. it should have a dark impression of the crank sprocket..

thanks and btw love the eclipse man I got the purple 95 tsi awd im converting to look like yours......I got the front bumper so far but yeah thanks I was just sticking a long ass screwdriver in the sparkplug and comparing the screwdriver at its highest point to the marks on the case. so follow the crankshaft sprocket and the marks on the block correct? thanks again

That's an interesting way to say that the backing plate can go on two ways, right side up and wrong side up.

Because the keyway isn't aligned with the timing mark on the plate the wrong side up will result in crank timing not matching up with TDC.
