Crankshaft sprocket ?

Hey guys, searched around for what I'm looking for and couldnt quite find what I was looking for. Doing a timing belt on my 94 gs I noticed the crank sprocket appears to have moved a third of an inch. You can see the shiny tooth marks on the backing plate between the teeth as it sits. I'm just curious if this would have caused damage and if it's possible to re align it. I did have the car running for a few minutes prior to seeing this, it has a bit of a tough start but seemed to run ok minus an oblonged cam sprocket bolt hole that was making the belt squeal and smoke

Well do you have a picture so we can see what the problem is.

Crank belt sprockets are locked in pretty tight by the large key on the crankshaft end.

It could be that the back plate, which is the outer flange for the balance belt sprocket could have been placed in backwards - why you're seeing these impressions.

The curve middle section of that plate needs to be outward, for if place in with the curve in, the outer edge of that plate will eat up the inside edge of the t-belt.

Big thing is to have ALL of the marks aligned up PERFECTLY on any t-belt job for any motor..no "it looks okey", or "it'll do", sort of thing.
