Alright i finally got the crankshaft pulley off and all the timing components. After I removed the crank pulley i noticed that the sprocket or gear that holds the timing belt is flat on one side of the lip. The teeth are fine in the gear just the outer rim or lip is flat or wore down. The entire thing is symetrical except one side. This would be the culprit for a gash in my timing belt.
Can that gear or sprocket be removed and replaced without jerking the crankshaft out. Also my car was rattling could this be the cause ??? 2g 420a n/t
