Ok so i started the tear down on my GS eclipse and found that the crank gear for the timing belt has a chunk missing off the front of it, so i have to replace it.

Now my question is this: Will the 2.0 dodge neon drive gear work?

Ive looked online and the eclipse parts sites have the gear for like 25 bux where the neon parts sites have it for 15 there both 2.0 and a 420a but is the timing mark gonna be the same? i know its only 10 bucks but hey 10 bucks is 10 bucks, and also i figure if both will work it will double my chance of being able to find one in stock locally as im trying to get my engine back together this week

I can't tell you for sure if they are the same or not, but i will recommend that you call the Chrysler dealership in the morning and ask them to look both parts up and see if the part number's match.

yeah thats what i was thinking to, I was hoping that i could find the part #'s online cause i doubt that the dodge dealer will have access to the mitsu part number and vice versa

Being that the 420a in the in both cars are a Chrysler product they will have Chrysler part numbers for both, you won't need a Mitsubishi part number, just tell them that you have a eagle talon the same year when they look it up.

im gonna call them in the morning and see what they say, Hopefully the Mitsubishi dealer will just have one in stock so i dont got to worry about it.

I was just trying to find an alternative method just in case, I have got to get this car running like now so i can trade my Spyder for a GSX
