I saw a few pictures on this forum where they covered oilcase-gaskets and headgaskets with coppergrease. Can somebody explain me why that is done?I am rebuilding my 4g63 engine, and I have to mount the oilcase-gasket ..so should I or shouldn't I cover the gasket in coppergrease?

its not a copper grease, but a copper coat spray, it is to help with the sealing of gaskets, it helps to fill in voids in the case where the gasket would get a less than perfect seal.

the choice is yours wear to use it or not... some people love it and swear by it... others hate it....

Just don't use the copper spray in areas where oil will contact the spray/gasket. There are small copper particles and you don't want metal flowing through your oil. So basically, don't use it on your front case gasket or oil filter housing.
