I got an ebay cone air filter and it whistles for like 1/4 second when i push the throttle. anyone else have this? will it go away ever?

You sure your not hearing the turbo? Putting a cone filter on my car made a HUGE noise difference in turbo spooling (whistling) sound. Is your car automatic by chance?

i know what a turbo whistling sounds like, but it's not that. i have a manual. ok, to describe it better...it's more like a chirp.

i hear it most when i have the hood open and i pull the throttle body to rev the engine. i only pull it enough to get the car up to maybe 1k RPMs so it's probably not the turbo since I'm also in neutral.

My car does the same thing when I move the the throttle with the hood open, its just air being sucked in, nothing to worry about.

yea, like GSTBlack95 said, it's just air being sucked in. if you listen closely when you turn the car off it'll probably make a similar noise as the air escapes. it's way more pronounced on CAIs, but you can still hear it just with replacing the air filter with a cone, like short-ram style.
