So about a week ago a friend of mine bought a TSi AWD for dirt cheap. The owner was an idiot. He tore the plug wires and IC piping off. That was about it. Once my friend and I got those two things squared away, we realized the car wasn't getting any fuel. We pulled the pump/hanger to replace the fuel pump with a Walbro 255 from my friend's shell.
After getting the hanger all squared away with the new pump we pluged it in and tried to start it; the fuel pump didn't turn on. So we went and grabbed the fuel pump relay out of my TSi AWD. We plugged it in and nothing.
So I went and got my multimeter. We tested the fuel pump harness plug at the black/blue w/silver dashed stripped wire. There is no voltage to that pin. According to a thread we read on here there should be 12 volts going to that pin/wire.
What else do we check after replacing the fuel pump and the relay?
Edit: We know that car starts. We got it to start on starter fluid only; the fuel pump hanger wasn't even in/on the fuel pump. We know the ECU works/has to be good.
Edit 2: After relooking at the thread I mentioned earlier, I realized we needed to test the pin while turning the engine over. It tested at 5.8 volts max. There were other numbers. It was almost 6 volts in other words.
So according to that thread, our problem is not the fuel pump nor the relay.. What do we check?
