This problem is in my 89 Mirage AWD. I'm using a 1g master and slave, hard line to a ss flexible line to the slave. My clutch setup is a Fidanza flywheel w/ XTD stage 2 PP and ClutchNet 4 puck unsprung disc.

I'm having a very odd problem. Most people have problems with disengagement, I'm having problem with my clutch engaging. A couple nights ago I was doing some tuning and my clutch engagement point started getting higher and the pedal itself wouldn't depress all the way to the floor, it would act like it was fully disengaged halfway down the norm. As it turns out, the clutch was fully disengaged and the fork was pressing against the tranny with the pedal halfway down.

For some reason the slave cylinder was pushing against the fork and keeping the PP disengaged without me pushing the clutch in at all. I couldn't move the slave rod or fork at all with the pedal all the way up. I twisted the bleeder to relieve the pressure and as expected the fork released and the cylinder was able to be pushed back into the slave. The clutch is engaging and disengaging fine now that I did that. My engagement point is (and has always been) about 1/4 from the top. My question is what would cause that to happen? Why wasn't the pressure being allowed to release when I let off the pedal? Could this be a faulty slave or master cylinder? Both of them were recently replaced.

i know this for a 2g but im pretty sure the same applies except for how you adjust the master.

your master cylinder rod is adjusted to tight and the master cylinder seal is not returning enough to expose a relief hole. letting pressure bleed down when your not stepping on the pedal.

make the engagement lower.

Thanks for the quick reply, I looked into "pump up" with 2gs and wasn't quite sure if that even mattered in my case. I actually just lowered my engagement point to about the middle, maybe a little lower. Hopefully that will cure the problem.

OP, was your problem solved?

Yes I did, forgot to edit it resolved.

It turned out to be I was getting pump up, I bled my slave cylinder and lowered my engagement point on the master cylinder and haven't had a problem sense then. I don't think this would happen on a 1g but because I'm using a 1g master in a mirage the travel is different.
