ok, two new clutches friends have recently, both wont go into gear while the car is running,,as in the clutch isnt dis engaging, and both have freshly resurfaced flywheels, one even has a welded assembly, rebuild slave cylinder, new master, new bushings, still has the prob, the one with all the new stuff is a 3000lb presure plate with stock disc and the other is an act 2600 with stock disc, i run a 2600 with stock disc on my never been resurfaced flywheel with no issues!

Mixing clutch parts from different clutches is not a good idea. Each manufacturer designs their parts to work in a certain way, and if you throw in parts from a different company it can screw things up.

In your case, you were lucky enough to have the right combination of parts to make it work. It might have helped that you didn't resurface your flywheel and it just happened to wear down to the right step height for a stock disc and heavy pressure plate. Your friends used resurfaced flywheels.

Have you tried adjusting the clutch, bleeding the clutch, checking for fluid leaks in the master and slave cylinders, didn't reuse the TOB, install a shim under the pivot ball, check the bellhousing bolts to make sure they're tight and aligned correctly?

we have done the nut welded on the clutch bracket on the one with a 2600 to get more length, the other guy didnt know about that and got the longer rod, both hydraulic systems are fine, and ive mixed aftermarket plates with stock disc for about 10 years with no problems at all, and actually getting better results, ive heard thats a great combo with these and the one in my car grabs great, looks like the tranny is going to come back down to check the step of the flywheel soon

Given you have newer hydraulics, you've bled air, and welded one pedal, I would say that the step height is not right.

However, I REALLY question the 3000lb pressure plate. Is that a ACT product? They have poor ratios on the plate fingers and it gives an enormous pedal load. More than Exceedy and Clutch Masters, amongst others.

I've got a ACT 2600 in my 90. I had to weld the pedal assy. I've got about 50K on that clutch now and have noticed a gradual degradation of the clutch. I can tell that the cross shaft on the pedal assy is starting to fatique. It's getting more and more deflection. Only time until it fails. At that point, I will rebuild it with a larger crossshaft. My point: I think the 2600 is at the limits of the pedal assy. Put an additional 400lbs on there and you are just asking for trouble.
