I installed an ACT2600 and ACT flywheel a couple weeks ago and ran into a few problems, and still can't figure them out. First, once I got everything back together, a sound started in the transfer case/drive shaft area. It starts at about 15mph and increases with wheel speed not engine rpm. It sounds like a metal rubbing noise. I have seen this in other threads but none of them had answers. Also, I don't remember if it did this problem before, but when in 3rd and 4th, I can move the shifter a good inch or more left and right. And when I move it to the right in 3rd the noise gets a lot quieter, and when I move it to the left it gets louder. It is the opposite for 4th; left is quieter, and right is louder. Also, when I move it to the far right in neutral is gets quieter. It is a pretty loud noise and can be heard over the radio.
The transfer case didn't have any leaks when I got the car and I never let it run dry, so I don't know if it has to do with the leaking recall or not.

Also, right before I changed the clutch, with the old one slipping a lot, shifting into 3rd became very hard, then spread to all the gears. It would never grind, but just be hard to get it into gear like I had to push through really think goo before I could get there. I thought it would go away with the new clutch, but it is still the same. Sometimes it shifts normally/easily, but only about 20% of the time.

Next. When I am in reverse, and make the car accelerate a little, then push in the clutch quickly, something vibrates/bounces in the tranny. It really reminds me of the sound of a fluttering bov.

Any help for any of these problems would be great.

Double check the T-case bolts, driveshaft and axles to make sure they are Tight and check your t-case fluid and trans fluid levels.

Everything is tight, full, and not leaking. I just don't know how moving the shifter can change the sound, because it really sounds like it coming from the axle/ transfer case. The sound started when I first put on my clutch, then I even took off my transfer case and stuff to change my oil pan, and when it was all together again, the sound was the exact same.

A friend of mine dropped that 10mm speedo bolt into that little hole of death without telling me and mine was making the same noise. It eventually worked its way through the gear oil and second gear ground it into the wall on the inside of the tranny. This led to the demise of second gear so I cracked it open and overhauled it. Not trying to freak you out or anything. :thumb:
PS...if you haven't already, change the ball and fork. Also do the shim under the ball http://www.teamrip.com/when_why_and_how_to_shim_pivot_ball_info.html its inexpensive and it will put a smile on your face.

How about adjust your shifter cables and look over your shifter assembly

Can you adjust the cables on a 2g? I thought that was only on 1gs. But, basically I found out that the sound is there in neutral, but I can get it to go away if I press the shifter forward a little. Then in each gear, if I push it further into gear, the sound goes away.
My car came with an ebay B&M style shifter that was poorly installed (with a hammer instead of grinding away the notch with a dremel). And the metal stick part is a bit loose from the purple/pink part because the threads that hold the bolt on are stripped. Could this cause the problem? I have a new short shifer and shifter cables in the mail so we'll see if that helps. In the mean time, any other ideas would be appreciated. I just need to drive this car, but don't want to be hurting anything with the constant rubbing.
