Im A little confussed about this step. I just got the tranny out today and took the clutch and pressure plate off. I still have to get the flywheel off, but Where is this clutch fork and ball. The problem is the parts are supposed to be here tomorrow or the next day so am I stuck until these parts come in?

haha.. its a hydraulic system.. if you look in the bell housing of the tranny, that is where it sits.. holding the bearing around the input shaft.. you cannot miss it..

The fork is a two pronged fork that is moved by the slave cylinder to actuate the clutch. It's what presses on the throwout bearing. Its fulcrum is the "ball", which is a rounded metal piece (looks like a bolt with a big rounded "ball" on the end) that screws into the bell housing of the trans. The fork snaps onto the ball. Pull the fork off to see and remove the ball.

WTFGuys, he's wondering when/how to take the fork and fulcrum ball off when swapping a clutch/pressureplate/flywheel. . . They don't need to be removed. It's not a part of the process.

baker838838, those parts are already out of the way. As I mentioned "The fork and ball is attached to the tranny in the bell housing. . ." Which is no longer in your way if you've actually removed the pressureplate. DGajre777 has posted the exact pic you should looking at. 20404 (fork boot), 20422 (fork), 20423 (ball) are attaced to the tranny and leave when the tranny is removed.

Okay, I figured it out I must of missed it with all the black dust covering it up it there. Im new at this so I was confussed. Now I also am waiting on a rear main seal but I checked it out and theres no leaks should I wait anyway. Should I continue on and start putting the new clutch in?

O yeah.. DO NOT blow that dust out with compressed air.. Its asbestos, and is vvveerrrryyy bad for you if you breath it in.. Im pretty sure that's what it is, if I remember my shop manual correctly..

GO FOR IT!! just make sure when you put on the clutch and flywheel, torque the flywheel down in 2 stages, and in a star pattern.. same with the clutch assembly.. and dont drop the flywheel on your hand.. I did that 8 months ago with my friends SUPER HEAVY stock focus 2.3 duratec flywheel.. split my finger like a grape..

Okay, So I'll just skip the rear main seal. I should be able to find all the torque specs on here right?
