Hey guys, I just bought my first DSM and have a little problem...

I drove it back from Denver to Houston this weekend and at the end of our trip, we noticed the clutch was sticking. You could pull it back up manually and it would work, but it would stick again soon after.

We checked the clutch/tranny fluid and found the reservoir empty. We filled it up, pumped the clutch and the reservoir level did not drop. Noticed a slow leak on the underbody. After driving it for a few minutes, the same thing happened again... clutch stuck, checked levels, and found the reservoir low (but not empty). Refilled. Same thing again.

I am a total novice here, and a good friend who races DSM's offered to work on it with me this weekend, but I was curious if there was something I could do to it myself with only standard tools and a minimal of work (not because I'm lazy, but I want to avoid breaking things).

Any ideas, help?

Thanks!!

The line doesnt go through the firewall.
its the Master cylender seal that is leaking.

either repalce it, or buy a rebuild kit from autozone like 25 bucks

a new master is only 50

Whats up! My fellow DsMers!! Well i Need some quick help?? Alrite i Just got my ACT 2600 Clutch put in with my 6-Bolt Motor? and everything is running good exept for the boost creep and one new problem that i just noticed!!! I am loosing Clutch fluid everyday?? so i notice that my left foot shoe? is all black?? like the left side of my shoe? so i check under my car and i am leaking oil from the clutch cylnder?? there oil on the bottom of my feet? not alot?? but it made my MOMO Matts LOOK wack! so i wanted to know ?? what parts do i need to change to stop the clutch oil leak?? do i need to change the clutch master cyl. or do i stop the leak at the point of leakage?? bec its hard to see where the leak is really coming from by i see small drops of oil coming for the cyl that the clutch PEDAL is hooked up to?? And it should not be to hard to fix this problem! well if youneed any more details let meknow! well hope to get my car PERFECT! soon! almost there! hahah Thanks and have a good one! lates :dsm: :thumb:

exactly. Any auto parts store should have them available. When you rebuild the master you should rebuild the slave also.

Now is a perfect time to throw those "wack" (h)momo mats away.

my master cylinder is leaking at the pedal also, i was under the impression a rebuild kit wouldnt replace the parts that cause it to leak in the car, i was told i would have to replace the entire thing? true? untrue?

Thanks for the link! i am going to buy the CMC tommorow hopefully they have it at kragen and it looks easy well thanks for the help fellas! my momos matts where! cool! but now itstime to get some new ones! hahah i let you know how it goes thanks DSMTuners! hey, im having problems with the clutch fluid leaking and can't find were it is from. I've looked around and cant see it coming from anywere. but I look under the car and see the fluid driping from the crossmember. I tought it could be the slave cylinder but I touch it and move it and I dont think its from there. is there any rubber hose on the fire wall between the master cyl. and the slave cyl.?

Get a flash light stick your head down by the clutch pedal look up, and you will see a rod with a fork on the end attached to the clutch pedal. There is a rubber boot there and you may see some residu of hydraulic fluid. Otherwise the slave cylinder is leaking and to check that you pull the rubber boot back and take a look. Otherwise very rare but possible is the clutch hose could have a pin hole leak in it

or the accumulator could be leaking. follow the hose from the slave cylinder back to the wheelwell and you will see a conglomeration of crap (the accumulator). i replaced mine with braided line and removed that whole assembly.

I don't see how the accumulator could leak. It's just a piece of pipe.

Look for cracks in the hydraulic hard lines where they enter the ferrules -especially at the slave cylinder. Pull back the rubber boot on both the slave and the master (inside, up at the top of the pedal), and look for wet carpeting under the master.

ok, before i get the "try the search button" replies... i have searched a lot on this topic. and it seems to be a very common issue for people (particularly those that have aftermarket clutches). my issue is different though, the common answers seems to be to either: 1) replace the slave cylindar 2) replace the master 3) replace the clutch line 4) bleed and re-fill fluid or any combination of the 4. however, i've checked and re-checked my clutch line and its definetly not leaking. i have replaced both the slave and master and ive bleed it countless times. and it still leaks
ive also been advised to try removing the clutch restrictor and i havent had the oppurtunity to try that yet because my car has been out of commision for almot a month because i was in an accident and insurance companies are slow. [end rant] but anyways, it seems to me that this is too common an issue for there to be so few resolutions. has anyone else had this issue this badly? i'm just hoping to find a valid cure before i get my car back so that i can actually get to work on it and hopefully fix it once and for all. thanks

Yes, the pushrod is adjusted.
What puzzles me the most is that everyone is saying the same things, and I've done these. However, one thing I'm going to look into is to see whether the bolt in the bleeding system (i dont know how to word that) is stripped. A friend of mine mentioned that possibility because apparently it happened to his car.

About 3 weeks after I got done installing my rebuilt transmission I started to run out of hydraulic clutch fluid extremely fast. I found the leak at the slave cylinder and replaced the tubing with a brand new brake line. About a month later it started leaking from the same spot. I just finished doing the exact same repair. Am I using the wrong tubing or did I just bend it bad. Any ideas on how to fix this reoccurring problem?

Thanks.

Around every month or 2 months I have to fill out the clutch rservoir because it dries out. I noticed when my car scary enought wont shit into gear while driving. I recently took out the Slave cylinder thinking that was the problem but I dont know what Im looking for. How is a non-working slave cylinder is supposed to look like? Mine was a bit dry. I check under the pedal but only saw damp spots that I might have done myself a while ago lubricating the pedals.

Any help on how to diagnose this, or any pics on the inside of a non good SC
