Okay so I dropped a new used stock 7 bolt in and it came with a lightweight flywheel bolted up already so I'm running it because the flywheel bolts were stripped. PHEW! That was a lot for one sentence.

So there were also 2 clutch bolt holes in the FW stripped, of course, right next to each other. I needed the car running so I slapped it together and am going to go back a 2nd time here pretty soon to clean it all up.

The car runs great. The problem I'm having is clutch drag. At 4500 RPM the car is starting to roll forward in 1st with the pedal down. I followed Jacks trans video to aT.. And when it comes time to set the master cyl position at its correct spot, my pedal is soft until 1/2 to the floor... I have the pedal adjustment AND the master rod adj both maxed out just to get the car to go in gear and drive normally but, there is that drag and I fear maybe a little slippage at high RPM.

Bump

Random thoughts:

Did you check the step height on that flywheel to make sure it would work with whatever clutch your using? "Light weight flywheel" is pretty vague, who knows what was done to it.

Is your pivot ball shimmed/missing washer/not in good condition?

I battled this problem on my old GST. I ended up resourcing a replacement rod with better adjustment, as I kept running out at nearly maximum like you are. I had the problem primarily when running mismatched clutch/flywheel items

P.S. When you say 2 stripped clutch holes (next to eachother), are you implying that you put it together without using those two bolt holes? I would think an oem clutch would have problems staying parallel to the flywheel due to uneven pressure.

If I were you, I would go back and take care of those bolts.

Have you seen the carnage from broken PP fingers? Besides manufacturer flaws, uneven pressure across the PP and trans bolts (i.e missing bolts) will cause uneven pressure which leads to damage to your clutch and/or flywheel, and if your flywheel or clutch finger lets go at a high enough rpm, you will be looking for a new bell housing... and I've seen clutch components at times pierce firewalls.

Be safe.
Just say'n.

And when you're in there you can check your clutch fork for positioning and correct it if it's out. WIN/WIN

Yep, having two missing pressure plate bolts is what is causing the issue. You've likely warped the PP and clutch disk at this point and should just shut it down and take it apart and either get the threads repaired (M8x 1.25) or get another flywheel. Just throw the clutch away as well. Bad news, I know, but its the truth unfortunately.

Did you also have FLYWHEEL bolts that are stripped or did I just read your thread wrong. IF you have stripped flywheel to crankshaft bolts, stop right now and repair or replace. Same with the Pressure Plate bolts. Flywheels, Pressure Plates and Clutch disks are the LAST thing you want to meet and greet you in the cabin of your car. Your life would be in serious danger. Please take it apart and get those things fixed before something terrible happens. Flywheels and all rotating masses store tremendous amounts of energy and if they cut loose from the engine they act just like a buzzsaw spinning at 5,6 7 or 8000 rpm's. Not only will they break a bellhousing but more important they will try to and will do your car and possibly, very possibly you, serious damage. Please let us know that these are all good and then continue with any questions you may have. Just concerned for your life then your car. As for clutch drag, if you don't have all the PP bolts in then it is going to drag. Also do you know if it has had it's balance shafts deleted? Sometimes it is possible for the engine harmonics to drag the clutch if they are eliminated. Some guys have no problems and some do, especially at high RPM's but don't go test it until all of those bolts are fixed. Not bitchin, just concerned and telling you the truth so that we can continue to see your posts, not you obituary.

and this.

Fix it correctly or you are in for some trouble.
