Clearance issues if lowered

So I've got a big problem. As we all know, 2g dsms come stock with big wheel gap and not to mention the fact that they sit a little lower than the average car. I'm currently running 17inch evo 8 wheels on mine and the wheel gap is so ugly. I want coilovers and I wanna drop it and reduce the gap as much as possible...only problem is my exhaust (mainly the cat) hangs pretty low stock. I have a 3 inch catback btw. That's not really my problem tho. Where I live I have to go over 2 speed bumps that are about 2inches off the ground each. Anyone have any idea what I could do to have better looking gaps and so I won't scrape everyday?

This may sound like a bit of a smartass suggestion, but it IS valid. To give the most clearance when going over a speed bump (or any bump) go over one wheel at a time. How the heck do you do that, you may ask? You go over at an angle such so that (for example) your front driver wheel first, then front passenger, then rear driver, then rear passenger. I realize that in many circumstances one doesn't have the luxury of taking the bump at an angle (often because to do so may involve crossing into another lane of traffic, etc), but if it's doable this is the best way to do it. My car sits fairly low and I've gone over speed bumps the traditional way (two wheels at a time) and have scraped and I've gone over the same speed bump using the one-at-a-time method and not scraped.

I have d2 adjustables lowered inch and a half and have very lil gap. I have not sraped at all but I am cautious about where I drive.

The other option is to use taller tires, so the tire can cover more gap and the car will be higher then it looks.

I'm on the same wheels, lowered 2" on Tien coilovers, and I can't say I've ever had a issue with the exhaust dragging, the front bumper yes, but the exhaust no. Are you running some sort of custom fabbed exhaust?

I'm on eibach pros and don't have an issue scraping but I as well use the angles method just for safety.

On these wheels you can run 255/40/17 tires. Depending on the tire brand this tire size will be a decent tread height. Its about 2-3/4 inches of tire from the wheel.

255 40 17 would be pretty close to the same gap fill in the fender well as the stock 205 55 16. That would be good to keep the speedo reading accurate but hey whats 1 or 2 mph at 65mph?

Okay. And no just an ebay 3inch cat back. I'm just worried because of the speed bumps leading into my complex. They're roughly 1.5ich high

When I lowered my car, I took the time to take the exhaust off my car and heat/bend the hangers to tuck the exhaust up under the car as close to it as I could. I scraped the front bumper and intercooler more often than my exhaust after that.
