allright, in my 97 eclipse gs my check engine light keeps coming on. I've taken off the battery terminal to reset the ecu and it will turn off for a while but after a while the light comes back on. I've done that like 3 or 4 times. does anyone know what could be causing the light to be coming on? thanks.

Umm... just take it to your local auto parts store and have them scan it, they typically don't charge anything for it.

Yes, most auto parts stores should be able to hook up their scanner tool to an obd2 ecu.

i went to 4 differnt places and neither of them had a thing that could hook up to my car, they said that mine wasnt an OBD-II, "it is the old one mitsubishi used before" what the heck?

They're either stupid or too damned lazy to check it. The last year the ALDL (ODB-I) was used was 1994 - all 2G DSMs are ODB-II.

so go back in there, and TELL them you want it checked now. Once they pull the code for you, let us know

Go back to one of those places and tell the manager that they told you they cant check it because it isnt obdII. Well, you did some research and the last year for obdI was 94 so now you know for sure it is obdII. Once he checks it for you, tell him you considered buying the replacement parts from them but since they are such dicks about it, you are going to one of their competitors. Then, next time you go there, you either get good service or no service at all. Im guessing that it will be better myself.

no seriously they took the obd-II plug and tried to stick it in there at like 3 of the places and it wont fit here is a pic of the plug

well first off your lookin in the wrong place that ISNT the plug. The plug is on the right side of the steering wheel up right behind that plastic piece. it is a black plug, every store around you must be a idiots....

Honestly I couldnt tell you, maybe that is what is wrong with your car, that thing is unplugged from something
