My check engine light is on. I got it read and it was throwing codes for a random misfire and something wrong with the fuel injectors. I tryed running some fuel injector cleaner in it but nothing still there. Any ideas whats wrong?

96 talon tsi awd

What codes did it have? Random misfire is a P0300 but the other code will help us a lot.

Do you know if it has a 6 bolt conversion? I had a '95 GST that was nearly stock, but found out it was a 6 bolt after the compression dropped and required a rebuild. Before that I didn't know anything about 6 or 7 bolt engines.

As for the Random Misfire, try changing plugs & Wires. For the other, check to see that all the injector plugs are secure and have no frayed wires.

Random misfire on a n/t car..Yes plugs and wires could be the culprit. But IveI've had a random misfire on my avenger for a year now.Its not the plugs and wires,it turned out to be a preare cat exhaust leak.So check that too.

Also check the coil pack it could be going bad it happened to me on my old 90 gst changed the coil plugs and wires and ran perfect

Before throwing parts get us both codes and we can go from there. Could be a multitude of things.

i do have an exhaust leak and i ran some fuel injector cleaners so i dont think it is that. It is a 7 bolt engine. I think its the exhaust and maybe needs some new sparks in it

What kind of "injector cleaner"? Often times this can compound a problem by fouling or turning the plugs brown. Seafoam is about the only thing I would recommend to run through your tank.

The check engine light was on before i can the cleaner through, couldn't have been that, i will get some codes today

It seems to me that if you have a code that mentions something about a fuel injector, it must be one of these:
PO201 Injector #1 Control Circuit
PO202 Injector #2 Control Circuit
PO203 Injector #3 Control Circuit
PO204 Injector #4 Control Circuit

You should confirm this, and then focus your energies on diagnosing this in a practical and scientific manner. If you have a code, there is a simple diagnostic process laid out for solving that particular code. Follow it!

If its code for radom missfire. Like other members said. Change you plugs wire if that dont fix it change the coil packs. On dsm is plugs, wire, coil packs. Coil packs is the pricy part. Nt dsm one but for us turbo is two. Unless you running coil on plugs thats a different subject on its own LOL.

I agree with above statements as well. Most codes you can punch in and it will give you almost a step by step what to look at to fix it. Also I can only speak from what I learned in my college class we used carb cleaner and one of those supersonic wave machine's and soaked them for a day and cleaned them off put them in the car and car started no problem. I am kind of against running things through my fuel system personally everyone's different. I was always taught to start with the small things and see where it takes you. could be a very simple fix.
