check engine light on!?!?! help pls

can anyone help me the 1st time it came on cause i havent driven it over the x-mas weekend, and then when i tried starting it up on monday, it stalled for a couple of seconds and i heard a noise but it didnt sound that bad, i was starting it up to heat it up, then awhile after i checked on it and the cel came on...........any answers?

a couple days later i took the battery off cause that cel was bothering me, then like 3-4 days later i was warming up my car again and left the heat on to warm it up more, then i came back to check on it and the cel came on again..............

any reasons why it would come on when not driven but when trying to warm it up??

Maybe problem corrected itself who knows.
Get a code reader and monitor the check engine light codes.
