So today I installed a new masetr cyl and SS clutch lines.
Went out for a test drive, car shifts perfect(no more pedal sticking on the floor), but idle is like 400rpm?? not normal, but I thought it's ok since I didn't drove it in a while.
Right before I get in the parking lot at a stop sign the Check Engine light comes on.:tease:
I go to AutoZone and they scan it ...got the P0505 OBD-II Trouble Code. They said it's the Idle air control valve, and it costs $200+ LOL. I didn't order it yet.
Now I heard that the IAC motor gets colloged and needs to be cleaned. Is that gonna fix the problem???The IAC is very hard to find/buy for the GST/GSX, but still $200 I think it's a little to much.
Any other sugestions??

Have you tried the junkyards yet? You may want to look into if the IAC is the same for both 1G and 2GT's before going just incase you can't find your model. I had the same problem and I had a friend who also had an Eclipse and I borrowed his for a while. Once I verified that fixed the problem I picked one up at the junkyard. Didn't look into cleaning mine, so I can't confirm if that will fix it. If you know it's bad, then why not try anyways? Worse case scenario: time and you'd only ruin a part that you're going to replace.

Does the check engine light go off once I install the new IAC? Or do I need a code reader to delete the error code? Does anybody have a tutorial on how to change an IAC? Or do I just need to take the the throttle body out?
