Cheaper to make own oil lines or buy from vendor?

I'm wondering what will be cheaper?

I want to get ss lines for oil return and feed. Eventually fuel also.

If making my own will be cheaper what size ss line should I get and how much length for each? Also what fittings? runnnig 14b for now. all on a 90 awd.

oil feed/oil return

Buy em. I only make 6an or up. Anything smaller than that would be a pain in the ass. Plus, you can #### up other lines and its not the end of the day. You #### up the feed line and you lose a turbo

Id go SS feed, rubber return. You only have pressure one way.

DEpends on what vendors charge, i've never bought one pre-made. I always go to the hydraulic shop in town and i can get one that feeds from the head for about 12-13 dollars and one from teh filter housing to the turbo for about 17-25 bucks. As for the return, i forget the company but they sell an outlet for the turbo that's either -6 or -8 AN return line and i THINK they have the same adapter for the oil pan but i can't remember for certain. But braided SS earls style returns look cool as hell and function well too :) (i want one) I run a stock return that was cut and I added a rubber extension with a spring around it to avoid kinking, did made it late at night when i swapped from the 16g to the t3/4 garrett around 1:30 am

Some things like oil feed and small stuff is cheaper to have made locally, but things like brake lines where the vendor has 100 sets made at a time ends up cheaper than a few trips to the hydraulic store and matching everything up or getting one resized because you were off a bit on measuremetn or the way the fitting needed to be (been there LOL )

As for what fittings to use, if you're talking thread or angle, well, that's something i usually will just try and figure out before I go (for angles and length for fitment anyway) and then i just take the parts with me so i get the right fittings and make sure they clear or at least have enough room to work on and go from there. When you take your part, there's always at least one intellegent person who can come up with a cool ass fitting you didn't know existed or at least find you the part you're looking for even with a semi poor descritption from just seeing on on somebody's car once (gone that route a few times too..I'll say..."well, it kinda looped here and angled here" then the guy pulls out the part and says "like this?" and it's exactly right so i buy it) 90% of the time i can find the exact same part as a high dollar aftermarket piece in an industrial fitting or hydraulic shop for a 1/3 to a 1/4 the price.

Great advice guys. I'll follow it. So on my part I just need to take initiative on buying the fittings, then finding a hydraulic store to make the lines.?
