hi i'm planning to change the tranny fluid on my 97 RS, but when i looking at the manual, it said, "For all vehicles with manual transaxles, except 1995-1998 2.0L non turbo engine, use Hypoid gear oil SAE 75W-85W, or 75W-90W, .... For 1995-98 2.0L n/a use Texaco MTX fluid FM."

i went down to kragen and they told me to use 75W-85W.... should i just go ahead and use it or should i go and get it from the dealer... since i can't find the exact fluid i'm suppose to use...

thanks.. any suggestions may help.:dsm:

In the hanes manual it shows
2.0L non-turbo : Mopar MS9417 or equiv. manual transmission fluid

75W-85W is a recommended weight for turbo models. I recommend going to the dealer.

Just find something that matches the specs and try it out :) Otherwise, we're just going to have a big list of every fluid known to man. Everyone thinks that "random brand" is the best because they use it... Personally, I *know* that Redline Heavyweight Shockproof is the way to go 'cause that's what I use! :p :p

i just went to the dealer and they charge $17 per quart... so i went to Kragen.. i asked them what i should use, since they don't have sync.; and in the manual it specifically says for 1995-98 2.0L n/a to use Texaco MTX fluid... which by the way they didn't have.... can anyone with a a 1995-98 2.0L tell me what they use and where to get it?!?

thanks again
