alright did a search and didnt find much info on having a egr block off plate and how you got rid of the code for it.

here is the story. put a eprom ecu out of a 94tsi awd in my talon along with a stage 3 chip yesterday everything is working fine but now im throwing a code for the egr. i have had my block off plate for only god knows how long and it never threw the code with the old ecu but now with this ecu its throwing the code. my question is how do i get rid of the code?

thanks in advance.

alright disconnected the battery and it went away. driving to work it threw a check engine light again but this time its for the o2 sensor. i guess im gonna disconnect it again to find out if the o2 sensor is really the problem...

The ECU board has two configuration resistors or spots for them. These are used to tell the software what ECU to be. R129 and R130.

On 91-93 cars (Not as sure about the 94 EB21 software) The resistors set:
R129/R130 = ECU TYPE
YES / NO = AWD Federal
NO / NO = AWD California
YES / YES = FWD Federal
NO / YES = FWD California

The '90 cars done use the resistors the same way since they have different software for CA vs FED.

well driving home tonight from work the check engine light shut off AGAIN! u think its something with the custom chip i got? it was a hand me down from my buddie scott who's whos set up im currently running (mods in profile). the chip does say knock on it but my friend told me thats not the phantom knock elimination code. do you know what else it could be?

That usually means that the boost gauge displays knock count,

I can's say why the CEL goes on and off. Does the chip say AWD, Some of Keydivers newer chips force FED/AWD to avoid the sort of problem I believe your having.

yeah the boost guage is definetly a knock guage now. thanks for clearing that up! the chip is about a year and a half old so its probably one of the older chips. what are you thinking i should do? just ignore the check engine light?

thanks again

is it something i can just put in or does it have to be soddered in? if it does i guess just check to see if its got in when i send the ecu to you and ill pay u to put it in....
