i wouldnt be posting this but whenever i try to research this topic i dont find anything i'm looking for :boring:

is one better than the other, if so which one?

any suggestions on what to choose and why?

A turbo back is better, but more expensive. Its the same thing but a turboback is longer (includes downpipe and test pipe/high flow cat). A catback is like half the exhaust line.

A true "turbo-back" should include an o2 housing as well. However, if they do not include one, most well mate with the stock o2 housing.

Just something else to think about when shopping.

The 3" downpipe make a huge difference on hp, I see a big difference, and they are not expensive on ebay... bolt on! So for the price go with a catback plus an ebay downpipe...

A turbo-back is better than a cat-back performancewise because it has the larger piping all the way to the turbo, or at least to the O2 housing. A cat-back uses the stock downpipe which would act a lot like a bottleneck for exhaust gas flow.

There is quite a difference. The most Hp you are going to get from your Exhaust is from the Downpipe. Catback, hardly improves performance.

But if you up the downpipe without upping your catback, it just makes the performance gains of the downpipe moot since it's still exiting out through stock diameter.

I think it's better to do a catback first then a downpipe.

I went with a down pipe first and noticed a big difference. I also changed to a 02 housing that dumped to atmosphere at the same time(the reason i went with a downpipe first) so that might have helped as well...spool up was noticeably quicker as the hp gains
