car wont idle...

ok so my 95 gst has always ran fine but lately its just been getting weird. It started that if i was in traffic or anything the idle would just keep climbing and climbing until it would idle at like 4grand. i drove it the other night and it was making some weird noises when i got home. I went to start it and it starts up fine everytime if you give it gas but as soon as u let off the gas it dies... any ideas? thanx guys

How recently did you do a BLT and are there any CEL codes that need to be pulled?

If you have a multimeter you can do a few sensor checks, just to make sure everythings working correctly.

IDLE STEPPER CONTROL MOTOR (ISC)

Check resistance between the following pins, 28-33 ohms is good with ambient temperature at 70*.

• 1 & 2
• 2 & 3
• 4 & 5
• 5 & 6

ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR (CTS)
Check resistance between both pins on the CTS as the car warms up, as the temperature increases the resistance should decrease.

• 32* = 5.9 kohms
• 68* = 3.5 kohms
• 104* = 2.7 kohms
• 177* = 0.3 kohms

Post up your results and we'll go from there, odds are you'll find the problem though.

never do a throttle body coolant bypass. . i tried because i don't want hot coolant around where i want my cold air. if thats what youve done as i seem to understand from the post above?
