Car starts then shuts down

My brother got a 92 TSi last weekend and it started right up. When we got it back home to take off the trailer it would start and then shut down. The car only runs for a few seconds before shutting down. It does this a few times and once it gets warmer the car starts and keeps running. If the car is already warm it has no problem starting. When the car shuts down it like you turn the key. I looked at the other threads and they sound like different problems.
Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks

Is it throwing a CEL? Is the car difficult to start, meaning you have to crank it for a while, or several times before it will start? Could be a CTS(coolant temp sensor) but I would need more info to be sure.

I am having the same issue right now. My CTS is fine, but my ISC is having problems. If I get this fixed soon I will let you know how I fixed it.

we're def gonna need more info than that to be able to accurately help you or atleast point you in the right direction. fuel, ignition, and air... im leaning towards a boost leak or bad MAS but it could be a faulty CPS or CAS too. start with the basics check ALL intercooler piping and make sure everythings tightened up (throttle body too) and try and start it up. if it happens again disconnect the connector at the MAS, it will idle really rough but if it stays running its a bad MAS. visually inspect your fuel rail/injectors for leaks, you can almost sniff check it too. still no bueno then dig out a spare spark plug to save time (or take one out at a time) and leave it plugged into the plug wire and have someone start it up. do one at a time and hold it to the valve cover to ground it and check for spark. with more info as to what isn't getting to the motor to keep it running the more we can help!

There is no check engine light, the car starts so its not the CTS, the gm maf is new, and the car starts easy it just shuts down in a few seconds. The thing is once the car starts warming up it will stay running. The car idles smooth with the mods it has so i dont think its the ISC. The car has just two resonators with no muffler so could no back pressure cause this trouble. It has good vacuum and holds 22lbs of boost steady.
